In Growth Product Experiences, we create amazing user experiences, blending our role as a top streaming service with exciting engineering challenges. We develop A/B tests and features for web, TV, and mobile platforms to introduce Netflix to more people, encourage sign-ups, and keep members engaged for the long haul.

People who excel on our team are growth-oriented, proactive, curious, and selfless leaders.  We are part of a global, diverse organization that values inclusion and equity. We encourage anyone who is passionate about leading teams and building compelling consumer-facing experiences that touch audiences around the world to apply.

What’s the Role?

Within Account & Security Experiences, the Identity Access & Foundations team is a newly formed team expanding our investment in identity experiences. The mission: to deliver a unified, secure, and scalable identity platform that enables seamless, personalized access for every member, across all Netflix domains and devices. The vision: To be the foundation for person-level identity at Netflix, powering individualized journeys, secure access, and cross-domain innovation.

As a team of cross-disciplined engineers, they partner with cross-functional leaders in product, design, data, and others to build experiences and products that enable strategy across Identity and Authentication domains including Core Login, Registration, and Credential Creation Flows. This is a focus area for Netflix, with high growth potential as we scale our business.

As a leader, you'll directly influence how millions interact with Netflix daily. Our focus is on building stable, reusable capabilities, enhancing Netflix operations, including streaming apps, Games, Ads, Live, Support, and Netflix House. You'll play a pivotal role in building smooth account creation, login, and access experiences across Netflix products. Your work will enhance flexibility, increase experimentation speed, improve user experience, and directly contribute to the business bottom line.

We’re seeking an experienced engineering leader, with a passion for servant leadership and operational excellence to support our thriving engineers.

In success, as an Engineering Manager, you will help the team:

  • Along with their partners, set the future vision and strategy across all aspects of Identity and Authentication Experiences

  • Advocate for the optimal Identity, Authentication, and Login Experiences

  • Balance the various dimensions of the team’s broad remit

  • Align with, prioritize, and manage expectations with stakeholders

  • Support and grow our talented engineers while hiring new stunning colleagues to the team

  • Uphold and further our engineering values and practices

  • Continue to thrive in delivery and operational excellence

Scope of the role

A successful manager in this role will demonstrate excellence in the following areas:

  • Organizational complexity - balance the multidimensional business model the team supports

  • People leadership - strong interpersonal skills and empathy for their team, ability to hire, retain, and coach a high-performance, cross-disciplined team

  • Leading at scale - with 300 million subscribers and counting, the role needs someone experienced in scaled distributed architecture

  • Internal partnership - a strong connection to other product, design and engineering leaders

  • Technical program management - leading large cross-functional teams on complex projects

  • Technical acumen - ability to think critically and design systems keeping in mind the needs of tomorrow

Must-Have
  • Previous leadership experience, minimum of 5 years as a people manager

  • Experience building directly consumer-facing products and engineering systems

  • Experience managing cross-disciplined teams (ie teams comprised of frontend, backend/full stack engineers and SDETs)

  • High EQ (Emotional Quotient) - the ability to direct their own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, empathize with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict

  • Stakeholder management - balancing the needs of Identity, Games, Ads, House, or Live Product teams against capacity and priority constraints

  • A/B test-driven product development - a background in having built products that iterate based on A/B test hypotheses and results

  • Technical program management - the ability to deliver complex projects across different client platforms and various layers of our technology stack

  • Operational excellence - the ability to build and maintain products through the full product lifecycle, including establishing and sustaining strong reliability and observability

Nice to Have
  • Direct experience operating in the Authentication, Identity, Security or Fraud domains

  • Someone who’s successfully built teams from the ground up and can build a culture that epitomizes Netflix’s values

What’s different about us?
  • Growth Product Experiences is a team that celebrates and values the business impact we have on Netflix, and not just the engineering contributions we make.  If you have a strong product mindset that loves knowing how your work directly impacts our customer growth and revenue, this is the team for you.

  • We move fast and iterate quickly - we take ideas from concept to reality in a matter of weeks, not quarters.  Expect a broader range of projects compared to other teams.

  • Inclusivity is something we embrace - diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and styles are something we’re proud of.  You can be your authentic self on this team, as we look for culture adds, not culture fits.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $190,000 - $920,000.

Netflix has a unique culture and environment.  Learn more here.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
