General Description:

HRL's compact, high-performance MEMS IMUs are redefining navigation systems by providing reliable guidance in GPS-degraded environments. Designed with navigation-grade precision, these IMUs offer a cost-effective, scalable solution for automotive, aerospace and other demanding applications where traditional GPS reliance is no longer sufficient. These innovations aim to deliver a first-of-its-kind navigation-grade component, providing industries with a reliable, economical alternative to traditional IMUs and advancing capabilities for autonomous systems and precise navigation.

Essential Duties:

Work closely with scientists and engineers to provide support in developing state of the art subsystems for position, navigation and timing (PNT) applications.

Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates and tests MEMS sensor components and subsystems.

Deploy custom-built embedded solutions in relevant environmental tests and field demonstrations.

Interface with vendors to establish supply chain partners for developed architectures.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in Python and C/ C++

Build drivers for custom hardware and scientific instruments

A working familiarity with Verilog / VHDL

Understanding of PCB design, assembly, and PCB layout software.

Ability to write test and control software for complex and varied systems.

Ability to rapidly prototype with evaluation platforms.

Develop emulations and simulations of hardware devices

Design, develop, code, test and debug system software (MATLAB/Simulink).

Familiarity with low-noise analog and digital test equipment.

Knowledge of Xilinx Zynq SoCs.

Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, customers, operate complex electronic equipment, perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits, and prepare written and oral presentations.

Ability to work well in a team and independently.

Must be able to work in a team of highly skilled engineers on complex projects in a fast-paced, vibrant, and interdisciplinary environment.

Experience with mixed signal circuit board design and evaluation is desired.

Experience in low level programming especially for embedded platforms is desired.

Familiarity with different families of FPGAs, DSPs, and microcontrollers is desired.

Working knowledge of MEMS accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers and inertial measurement units (IMU) and inertial navigation systems is a big plus.

Required Education:

Expected experience of BS +  5 years of industry experience,  MS + 3 years of industry experience, or doctoral degree.

Candidates with different experience levels may be considered for other positions.

Special Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
