Job Summary

We’re looking for an Email Marketing Specialist with strong writing skills, a deep understanding of email performance and deliverability best practices, and experience managing both evergreen nurture programs and outbound-facing email plays. This role is perfect for someone who loves crafting persuasive copy, analyzing campaign performance, and shaping the strategy behind lifecycle programs. You will partner closely with Marketing Operations (MOPs) to handle technical build-outs, workflow creation, and reporting dashboards, while managing the end-to-end execution of email programs, including requests, assets, approvals, and timelines, through a structured workflow system in Asana.

Rather than building automated programs yourself, you will define the strategy, requirements, segmentation logic, and content—and collaborate with MOPs, Design, and the Content team to bring those programs to life. This role is highly data-driven and proactive; success requires curiosity, strong analytical thinking, and a habit of turning performance insights into new ideas and improvements.

What You'll Do

Email Copywriting & Content Development

  • Write compelling, concise, and conversion-focused email copy across the entire customer journey—from cold outbound messaging to nurture programs, onboarding, product education, re-engagement, and retention.

  • Develop high-performing subject lines, value props, and CTAs optimized for opens, clicks, replies, and conversions.

  • Tailor voice, tone, and messaging to specific audiences, lifecycle stages, and buyer personas.

  • Maintain an updated content library for evergreen and outbound sequences.

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to align email copy with product positioning, key use cases, launches, competitive differentiation, and buyer pain points.

  • Collaborate closely with the Content team to align email copy with supporting assets (blogs, guides, webinars, case studies, product content) and ensure consistent messaging across channels.

Email Performance & Optimization

  • Own the performance of email campaigns by proactively analyzing open rates, click-through rates, reply rates (for outbound), conversion metrics, and engagement trends to surface insights and opportunities for improvement.

  • Build and manage a structured A/B testing agenda—testing messaging, subject lines, personalization, send times, and formatting.

  • Regularly bring data-backed insights, recommendations, and test ideas to Demand Gen Managers, providing clear updates on what’s working, what’s not, and what should change.

  • Work closely with MOPs to ensure dashboards and reports reflect accurate, actionable metrics.

  • Proactively partner with Marketing Operations to deep-dive into program, sequence, and lifecycle performance – identifying trends, diagnosing issues, and uncovering opportunities across channels and audiences.

Deliverability & Best Practices

  • Serve as the internal expert on email deliverability, sender reputation, authentication concepts, and inbox placement.

  • Monitor list hygiene, help enforce opt-in and compliance standards, and advise on segmentation practices that support high deliverability.

  • Partner with MOPs and RevOps on domain reputation, warm-up rhythms, monitoring tools, and risk mitigation when issues arise.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry changes—spam filtering updates, privacy changes, and new best practices.

Evergreen Nurture & Lifecycle Strategy

  • Define goals, messaging strategy, and content for evergreen lifecycle programs including welcome/onboarding, product education, upsell/cross-sell, churn prevention, and win-back.

  • Identify behavior-based triggers, qualification rules, segmentation logic, and recommended cadence for each journey.

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and Customer Success to keep lifecycle content fresh and aligned with new features or priorities.

  • Partner closely with MOPs to translate requirements into automated workflows and ensure accurate logic, timing, and tracking.

Outbound & SDR Alignment

  • Develop email sequences and messaging frameworks for SDR outbound motions, including cold outreach, follow-ups, event sequences, and persona-based plays.

  • Enable SDRs with variants of email copy tailored to industry, persona, intent level, and funnel stage.

  • Partner with SDR & Demand Leadership to review reply rates, meeting set rates, and pipeline generated from outbound email.

  • Provide ongoing optimization, testing, and performance coaching for outbound messaging.

  • Provide continuous recommendations to refine tone, positioning, and sequencing for outbound programs.

  • Upload, manage, and maintain approved SDR email copy directly within Outreach (sales engagement tool), ensuring sequences are accurate, up to date, and aligned with campaign goals.

Workflow & Cross-Functional Execution

  • Manage and track email requests and campaign workstreams using Asana (workflow management system), ensuring clear intake, prioritization, deadlines, and approvals from start to finish.

  • Support Prospect and Customer Demand Generation Managers by translating campaign goals into clear email copy deliverables and execution plans.

  • Ensure smooth handoffs between Demand Gen, Content, and MOPs to keep email production moving efficiently.

What We're Looking For

  • 2–5 years of professional experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, demand generation, or a related digital marketing function.

  • Strong writing skills and a demonstrated ability to craft persuasive, concise, high-performing email copy.

  • Good understanding of email performance metrics, optimization techniques, and A/B testing strategies.

  • Familiarity with deliverability principles, sender reputation, domain health, and compliance requirements.

  • Experience developing outbound emails or messaging for SDR teams is highly preferred.

  • Experience defining nurture or lifecycle program strategy—even if another team does the technical build.

  • Comfortable collaborating closely with, MOPs, RevOps, and other technical partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze performance data, identify insights, and proactively recommend improvements.

  • Basic familiarity with ESPs or marketing automation platforms (HubSpot, Marketo, Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.), but not required to build workflows.

  • Experience working in Asana (or other project management tool) is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with sales engagement platforms such as Outreach or Salesloft for managing SDR content is a plus.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Strong email performance driven by excellent copy, thoughtful segmentation, and continuous testing.

  • Stable, high deliverability and a healthy sender reputation.

  • Evergreen lifecycle programs that effectively move prospects and customers through the funnel.

  • SDR sequences that produce strong reply rates and consistent pipeline contribution.

  • Smooth collaboration with Content, Creative, and MOPs, enabling high-quality execution without bottlenecks.

  • Efficient, well-managed program workflows that support Demand Gen and Sales without delays or rework.

  • Demand Gen teams regularly receive actionable insights, recommendations, and performance updates that lead to measurable improvements in email performance.
