Job Overview

A key enabler of Mainspring’s mission is the ability of its team to develop and execute on key growth strategies required to substantially grow sales as the economy electrifies. Critical to such growth is partnerships with Utilities, Municipalities, and Co-Ops. This includes developing the required strategies and executing high total-contract-value transactions with these customers. Mainspring seeks senior origination professionals (Senior Originator to Director Levels) to develop these critical partnership strategies on the east coast and execute on them. Multiple positions will be leveraged to cover the southeast through ISO-NE on the eastern side of the US.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage the proper cross functional teams and perform the necessary research and analysis required to develop engagement strategies and business plans around high total contract value deals.
  • Execute these strategies by:
  • Networking with and engaging the applicable counterparty personnel
  • Articulating and quantifying the value of Mainspring
  • Fostering and cultivating strong relationships through the full deal cycle--collaboration, term sheet, contract negotiations, and close
  • Employ lessons learned from research, strategy development, and partner engagement to enhance Mainspring product lines by collaborating with the product team

Qualifications

  • At least 13 years of experience supporting and transacting complex deals in the energy space (e.g., build transfer agreements, PPAs, equipment sales, LTSAs, bilateral agreements for capacity/RA, large partnership/channel agreements, etc.)
  • Direct experience transacting with utilities, munis, and co-ops
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred (e.g., Masters, MBA, PhD, JD, etc.)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the energy space and macroeconomic forces driving utilities (and their regulators), munis, and co-ops
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate market research into well-articulated strategy approved by investors, senior management, and other important stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated ability to execute on strategy by winning counterparty trust and fostering complex deals to close
  • Comprehensive command of project finance concepts (IRR, NPV, pre-tax vs. after-tax, etc.)
  • Driven to understand customer/partner underlying business drivers and capable of translating the same into strategy that informs execution

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
