About Vercel:

Vercel gives developers the tools and cloud infrastructure to build, scale, and secure a faster, more personalized web. As the team behind v0, Next.js, and AI SDK, Vercel helps customers like Ramp, Supreme, PayPal, and Under Armour build for the AI-native web.

Our mission is to enable the world to ship the best products. That starts with creating a place where everyone can do their best work. Whether you're building on our platform, supporting our customers, or shaping our story: You can just ship things.

About the Role:

We are looking for a DX Engineer, Education to join our Developer Experience team as a founding member of Vercel Academy. You'll partner with our Head of Education to teach millions of developers globally. This role uniquely combines platform engineering, curriculum development, and content creation using our custom git-like CMS where human educators and AI collaborate. You'll have significant ownership over both the technical architecture and educational content that will define how developers learn modern web development. You will report to Joel Hooks, Head of Education.

If you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. If you're located beyond that distance, the role is fully remote. For location-specific details, please connect with our recruiting team.

What You Will Do:
  • Co-architect Vercel Academy's technical platform and content strategy, building scalable systems for course delivery, progress tracking, and certification
  • Create flagship courses for React, Next.js, and Vercel's platform while establishing quality standards and repeatable processes for content at scale
  • Contribute to our content engine—a CLI-first system with version control, AI-assisted workflows, and seamless authoring experience
  • Lead curriculum development from fundamentals through advanced topics, ensuring every lesson teaches through building real applications
  • Partner with CS, GTM, and product teams to integrate education into Vercel's customer journey and enable our certification program
  • Pioneer human-AI collaboration in technical education, implementing workflows where AI agents help maintain and improve content quality
About You:
  • 8+ years building production web applications with deep expertise in React, Next.js, and the modern web ecosystem
  • Proven track record creating developer education at scale—courses, content platforms, or learning programs reaching thousands
  • Engineering skills to build and maintain educational infrastructure, from CLIs to APIs to content management systems
  • Exceptional technical writing and the ability to make complex concepts accessible through practical examples
  • Self-directed with extreme ownership mentality—you ship without waiting for permission
  • Passion for empowering developers and ideas about the future of technical education
Bonus If You:
  • Have built your own developer education business or learning platform
  • Experience with MDX, content authoring systems, or git-based workflows
  • Published courses on Next.js/React or maintain significant educational resources
  • Background in engineering leadership or managing technical teams
  • Active in the developer community through YouTube, newsletters, or conferences
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.
  • Inclusive Healthcare Package.
  • Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.
  • Flexible Time Off.
  • We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $144,000.00 - $216,000.00. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location, and the total package includes benefits and equity-based compensation. Your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process.
