Zayo is seeking a Product Solutions Engineer - DWDM Transport, a critical role within Zayo's pre-sales solution engineering team. This individual is responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to the sales team in the design and discovery phase of Zayo's Transport/Wavelength/DWDM service offerings. Key responsibilities include translating customer requirements into effective solutions, driving complex technical designs, supporting RFP responses, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure seamless project handoff and execution. Our Product Solutions Engineer is expected to be a subject matter expert on Zayo's Transport portfolio, continuously enhance their technical knowledge, and provide thought leadership to the broader organization.

Responsibilities

Sales Support:

  • Work closely with the sales team to deliver compelling technical presentations and demonstrations to prospective clients

  • Address technical questions and concerns, both internally and externally, providing insights into the customer lifecycle experience

  • Engage with customers during the pre-sales phase to understand their business objectives and technical requirements

  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop customized solutions that align with customer needs

  • Develop strong relationships with customer's technical and business stakeholders to identify and drive opportunities to closure

Solution Design:

  • Develop and design complex network solutions that meet customer requirements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance

  • Provide technical documentation, vendor bill of materials, project quotes, service configurations, and execution guidance as needed

  • Lead the preparation and response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), offering strategic advice and technical input

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless handover of highly complex projects from pre-sales to implementation

Collaboration and Technical Expertise:

  • Collaborate with the pre-sales solution engineering team to understand customer needs and provide expert guidance

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for the sales & solutions teams to enhance their technical understanding

  • Continuously enhance your knowledge of Zayo's DWDM Wavelength services and offerings, and provide input to product development

  • Actively contribute content and thought leadership to marketing, product, and training initiatives

  • Assist in the development and execution of training curriculum and courseware for the Solutions organization

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five to seven (5 to 7) years of experience in a technical solutions engineering or support role in the telecommunications industry required.

  • Proven experience as a solution engineer or similar technical role, with a focus on DWDM/Wavelengths and Optical Transport required.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent business/military experience

  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications networking concepts, architectures, protocols, and technologies

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to design effective solutions

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage ambiguity and multitask in a dynamic, collaborative setting

  • Familiarity with industry standards, compliance requirements, and prominent vendor platforms related to Transport

  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape and market trends in the telecommunications industry

  • Business-minded with a commercial focus, able to anticipate needs and drive innovation

Estimated base salary range: $75,500 - $100,600 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
