Who are we: Pitch Labs, a 501(c)3 non-profit, works to inspire, educate, and mentor aspiring high school entrepreneurs to build their first business. Obtaining knowledge to be a successful business founder can be financially costly and energy-draining. Our 100% volunteer-run nonprofit offers aspiring high school entrepreneurs free access to our mentor-matching program, entrepreneurship support community, and resource library. We strive to create a world where anyone can be an entrepreneur. 

What We Need: We are seeking a enthusiastic volunteer to join our Discord Moderation team. The ideal candidate would find themselves aligned with our mission of helping young entrepreneurs build their first business, and would be detail oriented. As a moderator, your role extends beyond keeping the community safe to promoting more conversations and engagement within it.

Requirements: 

  • Previous experience in managing/growing online communities.

  • Experience with using Discord (not necessarily as a moderator)**

  • Must check and respond to messages within 24 hours once onboarded.

  • Availability for a minimum of 8 hours per week 

  • The ability to write & speak at a professional level/native English.

  • MUST be located in the United States.

Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Attend biweekly meetings to keep in touch with the rest of the team and contribute ideas to help solve problems & build the community ***

  • Review and moderate user-generated content, including text, images, and links, to ensure compliance with community guidelines and standards.

  • Assist community members by answering questions, providing guidance, and directing them to relevant resources or channels as needed.

  • Offer insights and suggestions to improve community engagement, dynamics, and moderation processes based on observations and user feedback.

  • Encourage positive interactions and contributions within the community, fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all members.

  • Help ideate, plan, and execute engaging activities and events for community members

  • Contribute to and execute plans to grow and advertise the server.

*** If you cannot make 3 of 4 meetings, you would have to make up this time with a 1-on-1 meeting with the Community Director.

Time Commitment: at least 8 hours a week for at least 6 months.

  • This time estimate includes time spent on meetings, tasks, and communication.

  • We require all volunteers to acknowledge messages within 24 hours and respond within 48 hours.

  • Volunteers can take time off or exams, work, family, etc. but should let their team know in advance.

  • Although we are all volunteers, we work like a start-up and seek individuals who are strong communicators and bring energy to the table.

  • As we train each volunteer heavily, we request that you do not apply if unless you are certain about your ability to commit to the organization.
