Who We Are

Hi, we're DuckDuckGo, the online protection company and remote-first team of 300+ on a mission to raise the standard of trust online. Founded in 2008 and profitable since 2014, annual revenue now exceeds $100m USD and millions use our browser on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, our search engine, and the DuckDuckGo subscription. Our culture of trust, inclusivity, and empowered project management underpins everything we do, where each team member takes full ownership of their projects, from scoping and execution to postmortem. If you're seeking end-to-end ownership of your work — you've come to the right place!

Your Team and Role

You’ll lead the Windows Engineering Functional Team, guiding the development of our flagship desktop browser built on a heavily event driven .NET/WPF architecture. The team thrives on continuous improvement: you’ll coach engineers, shape their career paths, streamline processes, and help experiments that drive growth.

Recent Projects

  2. Running an extensive ad blocking experiment to better understand our user needs

Your Role

As Director you’ll own key domains - like Duck.ai, Extensions, Stability, Performance - and provide technical oversight while steering bold browser experiments. Your daily focus will be:

  1. Coaching & Mentoring – nurture talent, guide career development, and foster a high‑performing culture.

  2. Process Optimization – eliminate bottlenecks, improve velocity, and maintain rigorous quality standards.

  3. Strategic Leadership – translate product vision into executable roadmaps, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and make data‑driven decisions that balance speed, privacy, and user delight.

You’ll shape the future of DuckDuckGo’s desktop experience while building a world‑class engineering team.

About You
  1. Ability to lead and collaborate on high-impact and complex projects from proposal through post-mortem.

  2. Skills to wrangle vague problems, propose innovative solutions, and execute them with a strong focus on metrics and impact.

  3. 10+ years experience leading teams of technically strong developers working on large, complex consumer-facing products, desktop in particular.

  4. Proven leadership experience across multiple consumer-facing products — you've made critical decisions that have broad, positive, and cascading impacts.

  5. 4+ years experience in senior leadership roles (Director, VP) including people management, coaching, and mentoring experience.

  6. Proven experience of leading technical teams through periods of rapid growth and scaling

  7. Advanced level of .NET core expertise.

  8. Advanced level of WPF expertise
