MongoDB is seeking a Director, Web Platform & Technology to define the technology strategy, architecture, and delivery model for mongodb.com, our primary digital experience.

This leader will drive the evolution of the platform as we migrate to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), modernize our software development lifecycle, improve performance and scalability, and establish the technical foundation for personalization, experimentation, AI-enabled workflows, and product-led growth.

Leading a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Web Engineers, and specialized contractors (Business Analysis, QA, Scrum Master), this role will champion AI adoption across the web development lifecycle while delivering a best-in-class developer experience and partnering closely with design, marketing, and product teams to maximize business impact.

Main Responsibilities
  • Platform Strategy & Ownership: Define the long-term vision, architecture, roadmap, and operating model for MongoDB's web platform, aligning technology investments with marketing, growth, and business objectives
  • AEM & Digital Experience: Lead the migration to and evolution of Adobe Experience Manager while integrating Adobe Experience Cloud capabilities to support personalization, content operations, search visibility, and scalable content delivery
  • Engineering Excellence: Establish modern engineering practices spanning Agile delivery, CI/CD, release management, quality assurance, automation, documentation, accessibility, security, and technical governance to accelerate delivery and reduce technical debt
  • Team Leadership: Lead globally distributed engineering teams and contractor partners, building high-performing delivery models and fostering technical excellence and accountability
  • AI & Innovation: Identify, pilot, and operationalize AI capabilities—including generative AI, conversational experiences, workflow automation, and localization—to improve both customer experiences and engineering productivity
  • Experience Optimization: Partner with marketing, design, and product teams to deliver high-converting digital experiences that guide visitors toward meaningful actions such as Atlas adoption, sales engagement, and other conversion goals
  • Platform Reliability & Performance: Own site performance, availability, observability, Core Web Vitals, CDN strategy, technical SEO, AI/search discoverability, and scalable architecture to ensure a world-class user experience
Qualifications
  • 10+ years leading large-scale web platform engineering, software development lifecycles, or enterprise website modernization initiatives
  • Deep expertise with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Sites, including component architecture, content modeling, and enterprise-scale implementations
  • Experience with the broader Adobe ecosystem (such as Adobe Target, RT-CDP, or AEM Assets) is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success applying AI technologies, LLMs, or generative workflows to enterprise web platforms or engineering processes
  • Proven people leader with experience managing distributed engineering organizations and blended internal/contractor teams
  • Strong execution skills across roadmap planning, Agile delivery, release management, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions that drive measurable customer and revenue outcomes
  • Deep understanding of modern web architecture, including headless/composable CMS patterns, APIs, web performance, accessibility, technical SEO, and emerging AI search optimization practices

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

$151,000$297,000 USD
