About Solace

Healthcare in the U.S. is fundamentally broken. The system is so complex that 88% of U.S. adults do not have the health literacy necessary to navigate it without help. Solace cuts through the red tape of healthcare by pairing patients with expert advocates and giving them the tools to make better decisions—and get better outcomes.

We're a Series C startup, founded in 2022 and backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, Signalfire, and IVP. Our U.S. based team is lean, mission-driven, and growing quickly.

Solace isn't a place to coast. We're here to redefine healthcare—and that demands urgency, precision, and heart. If you're looking to stretch yourself, sharpen your edge, and do the best work of your life alongside a team that cares deeply, you're in the right place. We’re intense, and we like it that way.

About the Role

Veterans living with serious medical conditions often encounter a private health care system outside of the VA that is fragmented and difficult to navigate. Solace already works with many Veterans who are navigating their Medicare and Medicare Advantage benefits. We're ready to go further.

We're looking for a Director of Veterans Health Programs to lead Solace's strategy for serving Veterans at scale. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare operations, federal systems knowledge, and mission-driven advocacy. You will own both the external partnership development with federal and non-federal organizations that serve Veterans, develop a strategy for partnering with VA, and oversee the internal operational infrastructure that makes Solace's Veterans programs excellent.

This is a high-visibility role with real ownership. You'll be building something that doesn't exist yet, and you'll have the team, the credibility, and the mandate to do it right.

What You'll Do
  • Lead Solace's development of a strategic plan to serve Veterans as we scale, including opportunities to engage with the VA on potential partnerships.

  • Build and sustain relationships with Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) to expand Solace's reach and credibility with the Veterans community

  • Develop clinical protocols, referral pathways, and operational workflows that enable Solace advocates to deliver exceptional care navigation for Veterans

  • Serve as the internal expert and voice for Veterans care — educating advocates, physicians, and product teams on VA system navigation, benefits, and Veterans-specific needs

  • Collaborate with Solace's Product and Revenue Cycle Management teams to build scalable tools and processes for Veterans programs

  • Identify and track quality metrics; drive continuous improvement in outcomes for Veteran members

  • Represent Solace in conversations with Congressional stakeholders and federal healthcare policy forums as needed

What You Bring to the Table
  • Deep familiarity with Veterans healthcare, VA’s community care programs, and how VA healthcare operations actually work in practice.

  • A track record of building programs and partnerships and an understanding of complex federal healthcare environments

  • Exceptional communication skills — equally comfortable presenting to senior federal officials and coaching a frontline advocate

  • Ability to engage with federal partners, particularly the VA, to lead partnership discussions

  • Genuine passion for Veterans and ensuring they receive the care and services they have earned

  • Previous leadership experience in the VA healthcare system (medical center, VISN, or national level) or clinical background (MD, RN, PsyD, LCSW, or similar) with VA experience

  • Prior experience working with Veteran Service Organizations or other large organizations who are dedicated to serving Veterans

  • Familiarity with TRICARE, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage as they intersect with VA benefits

  • Experience in early-stage or high-growth companies where you've had to build programs from scratch

Applicants must be based in the United States.

Up for the Challenge?

We look forward to meeting you.
