Amerisure is recruiting for a Director, Underwriting Operations to join our team!  This role will be hybrid 3 days a week in the local office & 2 from home.  Ideally this role will sit in our Dallas, TX or Phoenix, AZ office, though could also sit in Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Chicago IL, Farmington Hills MI, Indianapolis IN or Tampa FL.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Leads a team focused on efficient execution of Amerisure’s underwriting strategy through defined goals and process enhancement, while prioritizing people development through tailored training and mentorship to enhance skills and performance.  Champions data-driven decision-making and industry best practices to drive consistent underwriting excellence and impactful results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and direct staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with the company’s strategic direction.

  • Develop action plans and execute on the overall underwriting portfolio strategy.

  • Drive team member outcomes by monitoring performance, effectively identifying issues, and implementing solutions.

  • Manage underwriter workloads and staffing levels to meet organizational objectives and customer needs.

  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of team by identifying areas for increased productivity and developing procedures to address needs.

  • Drive strategic alignment in underwriting by establishing, enhancing, and managing adherence to guidelines and compliance policies.

  • Articulate and reinforce underwriting expectation, providing guidance and feedback to drive team alignment with underwriting strategy and execution of key initiatives, ensuring impactful results and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure cross-functional alignment and achievement of company goals.

  • Leverage data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration to optimize underwriting performance, engaging internal resources to achieve favorable results.

  • Monitor market trends, advance technical expertise to proactively position the department for success, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and achievement of strategic goals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience.

  • 7 years middle market marketing and underwriting experience.

  • 3 years management experience of middle market underwriters preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong leadership capability with experience in building and leading highly successful teams.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.

  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
