The Director, Technical Accounting is a high-impact leadership role reporting to the Senior Director, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting. This position serves as a trusted advisor to finance and business leaders, providing technical accounting expertise on complex transactions while leading strategic initiatives that strengthen the company's global accounting and reporting capabilities. The role combines technical accounting leadership, SEC reporting support, and cross-functional project management in a dynamic multinational public-company environment.

Director, Technical Accounting Responsibilities:
- Research, analyze, and document complex technical accounting matters under U.S. GAAP, including preparation of clear, audit-ready accounting memoranda and position papers.
- Lead assigned technical accounting workstreams for complex, judgmental, and non-routine transactions, coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders and escalating key judgments appropriately.
- Support quarterly and annual SEC reporting by preparing or reviewing individually assigned Form 10-K and Form 10-Q disclosure sections, technical footnotes, disclosure support, and new or updated disclosure requirements.
- Monitor and assess new accounting pronouncements and SEC developments, including related accounting, disclosure, policy, process, control, training, and reporting impacts.
- Provide technical accounting guidance for areas such as inventory and manufacturing, derivatives and hedging, debt, intercompany financing, contingencies, restructuring, impairments, leases, commitments, and other significant estimates or transactions.
- Partner with Treasury, Legal, Tax, Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, Controllership, regional/segment finance teams, and external auditors to evaluate transactions and resolve accounting and reporting matters efficiently.
- Support quarterly and annual close activities for assigned technical accounting areas, including technical checklists, representation letters, subsequent-events analyses, covenant reviews, control support, and audit deliverables.
- Develop and improve accounting policies, processes, templates, training, and controls to support scalable, consistent, and compliant global accounting practices.
- Lead the global implementation of new accounting standards, including ASU 2024-03 (DISE), by coordinating cross-functional workstreams, developing scalable policies, processes, controls, and training, and driving consistent execution across corporate, regional, and business-unit teams.
- Drive standardization, simplification, automation, and continuous improvement across assigned processes while maintaining strong governance, documentation, and audit readiness.
- Partner closely with executive leadership, legal, investor relations, and auditors to deliver high-quality reporting.
- Promote a culture of learning, ownership, and operational excellence within the controllership team and broader finance.
- Build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across corporate, regional, and business-unit teams, with the maturity to drive change without always having direct authority.
Director, Technical Accounting Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; active U.S. CPA required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, technical accounting, SEC reporting, controllership, or financial reporting.
- Strong U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting knowledge, including experience with Form 10-K and Form 10-Q disclosure sections and supporting documentation.
- Experience with treasury-related functions including corporate hedging strategy and derivative accounting highly desirable
- Experience researching, documenting, and communicating complex accounting matters; inventory/manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Public-company experience required; multinational or multi-entity experience preferred.
- Proven ability to lead workstreams, manage close deadlines, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong communication, judgment, ownership, and readiness to operate with Director-level independence under Senior Director oversight.
The estimated salary range for this position is $170,000 to $195,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
