The Tax Director will oversee global tax planning, compliance, and reporting, manage tax department operations, and advise on tax strategies and policies.
Reporting to the Controller, the Tax Director will be responsible to oversee and direct the company's tax landscape and deliver value as a strategic partner in enhancing Jeppesen's and ForeFlight's tax decisions. Additionally, the Tax Director would be responsible for developing and implementing global tax planning, reporting, and compliance for the company, ASC 740 reporting, indirect taxes, US taxation of non-US operations, local income tax considerations, tax controversy, and transfer pricing approaches.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary Pay Range: $180,000-$230,000.
This position is currently part of Boeing but is planned to transition to an independent company owned by Thoma Bravo, as part of a pending divestiture of the Digital Aviation Solutions organization. If you are selected for this role, your employment may initially be with Boeing (dependent on start date). Subject to final regulatory approvals and closing conditions, your employment may transfer to the divested business owned by Thoma Bravo at close. Additional details about this transition will be shared as they become available. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as lead tax advisor responsible for supporting business and key stakeholders on all tax aspects of the business
- Lead and implement overall efficient cash tax planning and effective tax rate management globally including support
- Responsibility for tax department budget including optimization of in-house vs. external resources, co-sourcing, tax technology, and innovation spend
- Manage the consolidation of the global income tax provision and financial statement disclosures on a quarterly and annual basis as well as related tax entries, disclosures, and projections
- Design, develop, and implement internal controls over income tax accounting and reporting indirect taxes, and materiality advice
- Negotiate tax incentives for site selection decisions both domestic and foreign, negotiations with U.S. Internal Revenue Service, state and local tax authorities, as well as foreign tax authorities where the company conducts business
- Advise and support tax aspects of ESG (environmental and social governance) including public perception of corporate tax rates, credits, and tax incentives
- Establish policy and decision making related to the tax aspects of the global legal entity structure including US international tax matters
- Develop global transfer pricing policy and implementation including advance pricing agreements, as applicable
- Facilitate and implement tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions
- Direct overall tax department operations, including tax technology solutions and decisions, establish internal tax policies and documentation retention requirements, and annual departmental budget management
- Lead development and delivery of material tax implications to strategic transactions, acquisitions, divestitures, etc. to senior leadership and key stakeholders
- Oversee global tax compliance, on a timely and efficient basis, on behalf of all shareholders
- Advise business units on policies, procedures, and processes for transactional tax consequences (VAT, S&U, GST, etc.) of global operations including data and compliance requirements
- Monitor, evaluate, and plan for global tax policy and legislation/regulations and affecting the company and advise senior management accordingly
- Represent the company externally to tax authorities globally and review audits of foreign and domestic tax filings
- Maintain strong relationship with external financial auditors and oversee efficient income tax reporting under GAAP principles
- Interface with outside tax consultants (accounting and tax counsel) and other professional associates related to all tax matters
- Review supporting staff work product and business work product for tax filing obligations, payment calculations, and supporting work papers
- Manage, direct, and develop the Tax Department
- Provide coaching and mentoring assistance to ensure the team is supported by a sound and efficient organizational and team structure
- Support business units in day-to-day transaction taxes, maintenance of ERP configurations with tax dependencies, and general tax related operation matters, as required
Basic Qualifications:
- 7+ years relevant experience at a large Global company
- Bachelor's or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Proven track record in building out process, can work from a blank piece of paper
- Experience of working at a fast-paced, dynamic multi-national company environment, ideally within the enterprise B2B software and/or aviation sectors
- Ability to collaborate effectively with senior management, internal business units and external advisors
- Proven experience in building a high-performance team, developing leaders, driving necessary organizational change and culture
- Highly proficient in all US and non-US tax concepts, structures, tax authority interface and practical tax knowledge
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including tax accounting under ASC 740
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Tax or MBA,
- CPA license
- Pilot or aviation enthusiast
