The OpportunityEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Review and ensure the accuracy of tax returns.
Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities while complying with applicable laws and regulation.
Support and develop global tax strategies and corporate legal structures and inter-company arrangements.
Prepare and/or review routine tax filings (sales/use tax, property taxes, etc.)
Understand the Company’s products and offerings to identify potential areas of tax risk or tax opportunity.
Manage and oversee outside tax providers and auditors.
Manage tax audits and other related inquiries from tax authorities.
Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and adjust strategies accordingly.
Research complex tax issues and consult with internal/external professionals, as needed.
Advise on tax implications of organization’s business decisions, including mergers and acquisitions.
Oversee monthly sales/use and tangible personal property tax returns for all locations and entities, ensuring accuracy of assessments.
Leading special tax projects or studies such as transfer pricing, R&D tax credits, etc.
Lead global treasury operations including cash positioning, forecasting, and bank account administration across multiple entities and multiple bank accounts, with a focus on building a scalable structure that will provide flexibility as the company continues to grow.
Monitor and report on short-term investment positions, flows, and cash balances.
Monitor and mitigate existing and emerging risks such as market risk, liquidity risk, credit risk, etc.
Own and evolve tax and treasury policies, processes and controls.
Continuously evaluate and improve tax and treasury procedures. This includes designing new procedures, implementing efficient solutions (software, outsourcing), etc.
Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives and special projects.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance or Accounting, with preference given to Master’s degree in Taxation and/or active CPA.
10+ overall years of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or related industry experience.
Deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Experience evaluating and advising on complex tax positions and M&A transactions.
Familiarity with ASC 740 and tax accounting principles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the Company.
Familiarity working in a public company, SOX-compliant environment.
Experience with tax software and other financial systems such as Netsuite.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

First 30 Days
Learn the company and organization
Build key relationships internally and with external tax advisors
Review current tax structure (U.S. federal, state, international).
Understand tax compliance calendar, current filings, and any audits in process.
Evaluate existing tax provision process and latest memos.
Review current cash management structure, liquidity position, and banking relationships.
Understand short-term borrowing facilities, intercompany loans, and investment strategies.
First 60 days
Evaluate tax strategies and effective tax rate optimization.
Outline roadmap for long-term tax strategy: planning, structuring, audit readiness.
Refine daily cash management procedures and reporting.
Evaluate working capital metrics in collaboration with FP&A.
Begin assessing long-term capital structure and treasury policy improvements.
90 Days and beyond
Lead technical review of any tax impacts from corporate restructuring, M&A, or new products/markets.
Begin roadmap for future tax automation or system upgrades.
Evaluate treasury technology (TMS) and banking fee structures for potential savings.
Build or update treasury policy.
Present a comprehensive tax & treasury health report.

Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background and what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.
The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners, all individually during one interview stage (3 30-minute interviews).
The Executive Review: A chance to meet with our Chief People Officer and CEO to view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more (2 30-minute interviews).
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $200,000 - $220,000 as well as stock options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
