Job Summary:

The Director, Supply Chain – Site & Energy Infrastructure is responsible for leading strategic sourcing for electrical/generation equipment and supplier management to support MARA’s development of new sites, as well as a focus on natural gas-to-power and renewable energy projects. This includes sourcing and procurement of generators, turbines, switchgear, transformers, breakers, and related equipment/services. The Director will develop and execute sourcing strategies that drive cost savings, enhance supplier performance, and mitigate risks while enabling the successful and timely deployment of energy assets. This role requires close collaboration with Site Development, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for critical equipment and services in support of data center site development, natural gas-to-power and renewable energy site development.
  • Source and manage suppliers for gas generators, microturbines, battery storage systems, transformers, and high and medium-voltage electrical gear.
  • Lead contract negotiations for major energy equipment and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  • Build and maintain a qualified vendor base for energy and infrastructure projects, including OEMs, fabricators, and specialty contractors.
  • Negotiate and manage framework agreements and strategic partnerships to ensure consistent supply of mission-critical equipment.
  • Oversee supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, warranty support, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Implement risk management practices to safeguard against supply chain disruptions, long lead times, and commodity price volatility.
  • Support project scheduling by ensuring timely procurement and site delivery of equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate with logistics and construction management teams for effective material handling and site integration.
  • Utilize data analytics and KPIs to monitor procurement effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities, and report cost savings.
  • Stay current with industry trends in gas and renewable technologies, emerging suppliers, and evolving market conditions to inform sourcing decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field. A Master’s Degree or degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain or strategic sourcing, with emphasis on energy and electrical infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of natural gas and renewable energy generation technologies and electrical equipment sizing.
  • Proven ability to negotiate high-value contracts and manage complex supplier relationships.
  • Experience working with cross-functional project teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel to vendor facilities, project locations, and industry events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in data center infrastructure is a plus
  • Certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, compliance, and quality standards for electrical equipment manufacturing.
  • Travel 30-40% of the time
