Humana is seeking an accomplished leader for the role of Director, Strategic Advancement in Membership and Plan Services to join our team. This high impact leader will play a pivotal role in supporting the Sr. Leader in the development, implementation, and execution of the company's strategic goals and operational initiatives. Employing strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of strategic and operational expertise, a sense of urgency, and the ability to create consensus across the highest level of leadership, this leader will play a critical role in advancing our business through leading a portfolio of strategic and operational initiatives. This role is a strategic position that will help shape the direction of the Leadership Team while ensuring we deliver operational discipline and efficiency.
This position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills, who will lead a team of 3-5 direct reports (Associate Director and Lead) with 10-15 associates (Professional Level) to help deliver this critical work. Reporting to the VP, Membership and Plan Services, they will serve as a trusted advisor and will be responsible for multi-year strategic and portfolio planning and operational readiness as we transform our technology and business operations. This leader must be a strong enterprise collaborator who works to provide effective and innovative solutions for top organizational and business priorities.
The Director of Strategic Advancement will work side-by-side with the Vice President and leadership team to ensure that the organization is meeting or exceeding expectations. Collaborates with executive team members to determine and prioritize business strategies.
- Collaborates with cross functional leaders to develop and drive large scale strategic priorities, facilitates cross functional collaboration to ensure alignment on key initiatives and removes roadblocks
- Champions the 5-year strategic plan for Membership and Plan Services and drive accountability within the segment by collaborating with functional leaders and enterprise partners
- Ensures portfolio and investments aligns with its overall business strategy and maximizes value by prioritizing investments, measuring and tracking value
- Responsible for reporting and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) cadences for tracking progress of Portfolio KPI’s, Status and alignment to overall objectives through Monthly Business Review
- Drives monthly, quarterly and yearly investment planning and opportunity assessment
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization with the goal of advancing the leader’s vision and agenda
- Assesses the impact of changes, mitigate risks, and facilitate employee adaptation
- Acts as an extension of the MPS Leader in meetings, decision-making processes, and daily operations
- Ensures successful Annual Enrollment Period by developing and facilitating training for New Hires, Short Term staffing
- Leverages data analytics to drive business insights, reporting, and leadership communications
- Advises leadership of functional strategies while exercising independent judgment and decision making on complex issues with minimal supervision
- Assists in determining key performance indicators and how to measure team performance
- Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision
- Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years strategic planning experience
- 5+ years of Management experience
- 1+ years' experience with organizational change management
- Strategic thinker and customer obsessed with ability to balance divergent needs and priorities in a complex organizational structure
- Proven track record of managing complex enterprise projects and driving organizational change
- Executive level presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Leads by example and inspire confidence and influence across all levels of the organization
- Excellent relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to build consensus and convey significance, cause and opportunity of initiatives
- Self-starter who takes initiative and anticipates the needs of the Sr. Leader and the organization
- Ability to analyze data and make informed recommendations
- Experience working with sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to travel up to 15%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Strong working knowledge of the healthcare and/or large scale operations industry
- Large scale operations and/or product management experience

- Workstyle: Hybrid Home - This is a hybrid home position where employees primarily work from their home office, occasionally using company office space for collaboration and face-to-face needs.

- To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended to support Humana applications, per associate.
- Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL connection is suggested.
- Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if they provide an optimal connection for associates. The use of these methods must be approved by leadership. (See Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL Connection in Exceptions, Section 7.0 in this policy.)
- Humana will not pay for or reimburse Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates for any portion of the cost of their self-provided internet service, with the exception of associates who live or work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
