Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned technology leader to oversee the development and maintenance of our Claims application ecosystem. This role is pivotal in driving the modernization and operational excellence of our Claims systems, which are built on a modern tech stack including ASP.Net C#, MS SQL, Angular (SPA), and AWS services such as CloudFront, S3, API Gateway, and Lambda functions.

The Director will lead a team of Tech Leads, Senior Developers, Business Analyst, and Scrum Master, and will be responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions that support our Claims operations.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end application development and maintenance for the Claims platform.
  • Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of developers, analysts, and agile practitioners.
  • Oversee architecture and design decisions for a distributed system using .NET/C#, Angular SPA, and AWS serverless components.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technology solutions with Claims strategy and operational goals.
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC, DevOps, and Agile best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in system performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure delivery quality from third-party partners.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ASP.Net C#, MS SQL, Angular (SPA)
  • Good experience with AWS Cloud services like CloudFront, S3, API Gateway, Lambda.
  • Experience with data migration, application integration is preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing distributed teams and delivering complex projects in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of Claims processes and systems in the Insurance industry.
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD automation.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance standards in the insurance domain.
  • Prior experience modernizing legacy systems into cloud-native architectures.
  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher (Preferably in Computer Science,  Engineering or a related field)

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

 

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$166,560 - $249,840
