Cataloochee Ranch is a Relais & Châteaux resort that mixes classic ranch fun with exceptional accommodations and cuisine. Founded almost a hundred years ago by the Alexander family, Cataloochee Ranch has been a favorite mountain getaway for generations of high-country adventurers. Spread across hundreds of acres along the southeastern border of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the property’s breathtaking elevation, open balds, and long-range views are complemented by classic comforts, perfectly rustic cuisine, humble hospitality, and hands-on, expert-led activities.

Our Leadership team has an important role in creating and delivering extraordinary experiences that support our Mission Statement, strengthen our Core Values and position our service and setting as the most sought after destination in Western North Carolina. This executive level role is responsible for Sales & Marketing efforts for Cataloochee Ranch, and will serve in a way that aligns with our Mission Statement - “Improving lives through genuine care” while balancing the three pillars of our exceptional team member experience, unparalleled Guest experiences, and profitability.

Strategic Planning

Develop and implement comprehensive sales and marketing strategies that align with business objectives, target market, and competitive landscape, identifying opportunities for revenue growth and market expansion.

Brand management

Oversee brand identity and positioning, ensuring consistency in messaging, visual identity, and customer experience across all marketing channels and touchpoints.

Sales generation

Lead sales initiatives to drive revenue growth, including developing sales plans, setting targets, and monitoring performance, and implementing tactics to attract corporate clients, event planners, and leisure group bookings.

Marketing campaigns

Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote our offerings, special events, and promotions, utilizing a mix of traditional and digital channels to reach target audiences effectively.

Public relations

Cultivate relationships with media outlets, influencers, and industry partners to generate positive publicity and media coverage pitching story ideas, coordinating press events, and managing media inquiries.

Customer relationship management

Implement customer relationship management (CRM) strategies to cultivate relationships with loyal patrons, gather feedback, and drive repeat business through personalized marketing initiatives and VIP programs.

Work Performed:

2. Lead initiatives for the division to enhance the culture of Cataloochee Ranch, maximize guest experiences and profitability,

adhere to local health & safety guidelines, create measurable sustainable initiatives.

3. Interview, hire, train and evaluate performance of Special Event/Group team members.

4. Effectively attain assigned sales and revenue goals as well as solicitation call goals.

5. Proactively conduct solicitation calls, conduct sales tours and entertain clients specific to Leisure, Business Travel and Special Events.

6. Grow existing relationships with assigned accounts specific to Leisure, Business Travel and/or Groups.

7. Monitor and evaluate trends within market segments.

8. Observe safety and legal requirements as to health and labor department.

9. Create, distribute complex campaigns and provide analytical evaluations of all Marketing campaigns, B2B, SEO, and direct to guest/consumer in alignment with branding standards and vision.

10. Work in collaboration with the Revenue Manager to establish rates and availability for group business.

11. Work in collaboration ith Director of F&B and Executive Chef to create menus for groups, large party dining, holidays, etc.

12. Provide site inspections for potential clients to showcase our setting & service.

13. Devise new approaches to increaseSpecial Event/Group business and revenue.

14. Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations as applicable.

15. May assist in implementing and/or participating in special promotions relating to direct sales segments i.e. sales blitzes etc.

16. Attend daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management.

17. Develop and implement service standards to ensure a consistent guest experience at a high quality level.

18. Respond to Guest Inquiries, challenges, and opportunities with kindness, tact and solutions.

19. Ensure reservation requests and requests for proposals (RFP) are responded to in a timely manner via telephone/email/social media.

20. Present/Discuss inquiries and leads with GM/MD to qualify business prior to contracting.

21. Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Supervision Exercised: Special Events & Social Media Specialist, Sales & Special Events Manager, Special Events Service and Operational team members

Supervision Received: General Manager/Managing Director

Responsibility & Authority:

1. Maintain a high level of guest service at all times in all guest services areas.

2. Uphold the resort commitment to hospitality.

3. Act as Manager on Duty as required.

4. Work closely with all departments to ensure guest service levels are being met.

5. Communicate effectively with all departments.
