Director of Sales Engineering

Responsibilities 

  • Align the sales engineering function with broader company objectives to support revenue growth and customer success. 

  • Partner with Sales Leadership to develop scalable technical tools, processes, and programs that drive successful sales engagements and conversions. 

  • Collaborate with Sales Enablement to enhance team capabilities, ensuring continuous skill development, improved sales effectiveness, and alignment with best practices. 

  • Define and maintain a catalog of Sales Engineering services, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs). 

  • Collaborate with sales and cross-functional teams to create strategic account plans and ensure seamless execution. 

  • Conduct performance reviews, implement skill development programs, and establish career progression frameworks. 

  • Work closely with Product Marketing, Engineering, and Support teams to provide market insights, enhance product development, and refine go-to-market strategies. 

  • Deliver on sales engineering-driven goals, including revenue, profitability, and services expansion. 

  • Represent Blackpoint Cyber at industry events, webinars, and conferences, contributing to brand awareness and technical credibility. 

  • Provide insights on industry trends, competitive intelligence, and emerging technologies to enhance the company's positioning. 

Experience & Skills 

  • Approximately 7 years of experience in Sales Engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role building and scaling technical teams. 

  • Proven ability to develop and execute technical sales strategies that align with revenue objectives. 

  • Strong leadership and coaching capabilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams. 

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity technologies and frameworks, including NIST, CIS, CMMC, HIPAA, PCI-DSS. 

  • Expertise in Windows domain administration, networking (IP Addressing, DNS, DHCP), and endpoint security tools (Antivirus, EDR, IDS/IPS, Firewalls). 

  • Experience with RMM tools (Datto, Kaseya), remote access tools (VPN), and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash). 

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate technical capabilities into customer value propositions. 

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to align sales engineering efforts with corporate objectives. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • Experience working in fast-growing cybersecurity companies targeting MSPs or enterprise clients. 

  • Prior experience presenting at conferences, webinars, and industry panels.
