Your Future Team
Our dynamic and collaborative Privacy team is comprised of global privacy professionals working to scale privacy compliance, enhance customer trust, and foster product innovation as trusted business advisors. We're hiring a Director of Privacy who will report to the Senior Director of Privacy for Data Platform and AI/ML.
Atlassian is a distributed-first company. To best enable collaboration with our teammates in APAC, we're seeking candidates in North American time zones with strong working hour overlap to our core team (Pacific, Mountain, Central).   • Collaborate with Legal teammates, product teams, and engineering teams to build trustworthy, privacy-conscious products our customers love
  • Advise business teams on privacy considerations for customer data lifecycle and use, including with AI and machine learning
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership (including trust, marketing, sales, and others) on customer privacy initiatives
  • Scale Atlassian's privacy program by developing and implementing customer data lifecycle policies, practices, and processes
  • Drive awareness of data privacy, including developing business trainings and guidance

Minimum Qualifications
  • Necessary qualifications to practice law in your local jurisdiction
  • 6+ years practicing law
  • Deep knowledge of global privacy regulations and frameworks (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of AI-related laws, regulations, and frameworks
  • Knowledge of biometrics regulations
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders and legal teammates to advise on privacy considerations for new products and features
  • Experience distilling complex legal and technical concepts for leadership audiences

Preferred Qualifications
  • CIPP/E, CIPP/US, and/or AIGP Certification
  • 3+ years of in-house experience
  • 3+ years of law firm experience

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $225,000 - $293,750
Zone B: $202,500 - $264,375
Zone C: $187,200 - $244,400
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
