Make Your Mark:
The Director of PreSales for the East Region is a hands-on leader who blends strategy with execution. This is a player-coach role for someone with a proven track record of closing enterprise SaaS deals valued $1M-$5M annually, and who knows how to build trust with Sales leadership, partners, and customers.
Your mission: build a team of ~10 presales consultants into trusted strategic advisors who value sell, influence ACV, and strengthen BlackLine's presence in enterprise finance transformation.
You'll Get To:
  • Lead and mentor a team of ~10 presales consultants, developing talent while staying actively engaged in the field.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership, earning trust through collaboration on qualification, deal assignments, and territory strategy.
  • Act as a strategic advisor in deals, guiding solution positioning, deal strategy, and competitive differentiation.
  • Build and scale digital sales motions, creating compelling content that resonates with finance users and the C-Suite. Act as a strategy lead for how and when Sales deploys content during sales cycles.
  • Strengthen BlackLine's partner ecosystem by leveraging partners in large, complex opportunities and ensuring they amplify BlackLine's value in the market.
  • Act as a bridge to Product and Professional Services, ensuring lessons learned in deals inform product strategy and implementation approaches. Build trust with cross-functional peers by showing how presales insights help shape better outcomes.
  • Simplify complex finance/accounting environments into compelling BlackLine business cases, demonstrating value selling in action.
  • Bring a long-term view of customer success, leveraging experience in Professional Services or Services Sales to ensure strong handoffs and robust implementations.

What You'll Bring:
  • Proven track record of closing enterprise SaaS deals valued $1M-$5M+ annually with senior executives, especially CFOs.
  • Deep DNA of value selling- can turn complex requirements into business value on the fly.
  • Strong background in finance/accounting; CPA or accounting degree preferred.
  • Partner ecosystem experience with a history of leveraging partners in large, complex sales cycles.
  • Background in software beyond presales (e.g., Product Management, Professional Services, or Services Sales) with proven ability to build cross-functional trust.
  • Leadership experience managing presales teams and building strong collaboration with Sales leaders.
  • Executive presence and communication skills to represent BlackLine with customers and partners.
  • 80% travel across the East region. Directors are expected to be consistently in the field with Sales, customers, and partners.

BlackLine recognizes that the ways we work and the workplace itself has shifted. Candidates who live within a reasonable commute to one of our offices will work in the office at least 2 days a week.
Salary Range:
USD $168,000.00/Yr. - USD $210,000.00/Yr.
Pay Transparency Statement:
Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location.
In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring candidates have clear information about compensation expectations. For roles that include variable incentive components such as an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) or On-Target Earnings (OTE), the compensation structure may follow a split model - for example, a 50/50, 70/30, or 60/40 ratio between base salary and variable incentive.
