Skylight is a technology startup building the OS of the family. We make Skylight Calendar, the smart calendar loved by millions of families (plus Wired and the Wirecutter). Our latest product is Calendar 2, which just launched to rave reviews.
Skylight’s mission is to build the OS of the family. We make consumer products, like Skylight Frame and Skylight Calendar, that are loved by millions of people across the globe. Through a singular focus on care for our customers, Skylight has scaled from a school project to over $300M in annual revenue while being completely bootstrapped. We have a huge opportunity to make family life easier and more connected, and that’s why we have been working hard to expand our team.

We’re looking for a Director of Performance Marketing to own the core digital acquisition channels for Skylight Calendar. You’ll manage an eight-figure budget across channels like Meta, Google, TikTok and AppLovin. You’ll decide where the next dollar goes and build the testing and measurement program that tells us what’s really working. You’ll report to our Director of Growth and work closely with our creative, offline, influencer, ecommerce, brand, and retail teams. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who thinks in marginal dollars and maximizing ROI and is as comfortable in an ad account as in a contribution model.

What you’ll own

  • Channel performance and budget
    • Optimize spend across digital channels continuously, maximizing growth while hitting blended and channel-level CAC and contribution targets
    • Build monthly, quarterly and promotional spend plans (holiday, Mother’s Day, new launches) tied to revenue, inventory and margin goals
    • Design campaign structure for algorithmic performance; oversee optimization strategy and manage small teams to execute channel plans. Step in to support with hands on keys adjustments as needed.
    • Test new channels and tactics with clear hypotheses, success criteria and thresholds for scaling
  • Incrementality and measurement
    • Own the roadmap for digital incrementality testing (geo-holdouts, lift studies) to guide channel mix decisions, validate spend and open up new tactics
    • Reconcile platform reporting with incrementality, MMM and post-purchase survey data, and define which signals drive decisions
    • Understand halo effects: how digital spend drives sales at retail and on Amazon, not just DTC
    • Work with ecommerce to test funnels and optimize conversion rate.
  • Creative and testing
    • Work with the creative team, creative strategist, brand, and product marketing to set creative priorities and resourcing
    • Oversee a high-velocity creative testing program; support the Digital Performance Manager in balancing tradeoffs (velocity vs. quality)
    • Collaborate with marketing channel leads on testing roadmaps, including new audiences, messaging angles and offers
  • Leadership and communication
    • Lead and develop media buyers and analysts, and manage agency and platform partners
    • Explain performance clearly to leadership: what changed, why, and what we’ll do next

Requirements
  • 8+ years in performance marketing, with 3+ years in a growth leadership role at a consumer brand
  • Strong paid social and paid search competency at scale. Has managed an eight-figure annual budget across Meta, Google and at least one other channel, allocating spend based on marginal returns
  • Has designed and run incrementality tests and used MMM or causal measurement to make spend decisions.
  • Deep fluency in unit economics: CAC, MER, contribution margin, payback and LTV
  • Strong creative instincts, with the ability to turn performance data into briefs that produce winning ads
  • Strong technical understanding of signal infrastructure (e.g. pixels, Conversions API, server-side tracking and first-party data)
  • Comfortable pulling your own data (SQL or BI tools like Omni or Looker are a plus)
  • Bonus: omnichannel experience where digital spend supports retail, or experience with hardware plus subscription businesses

Benefits

Our competitive compensation package includes:

  • Competitive Salary + Equity Package
  • 401K matching
  • Wellness, learning, and home-office budgets
  • Health, Dental & Vision Medical Plans
  • Tremendous autonomy to set the direction of your work
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Company holidays on the first Friday of every month (Excluding November, December, and January)
