Position Overview

The Director, Performance Creative is a senior leadership role responsible for owning creative strategy, performance outcomes, and team development across a portfolio of high-impact client accounts. This role sits at the intersection of Creative, Media, and Growth, translating performance data into scalable creative systems, executive-level insights, and compelling client narratives.

Beyond account ownership, this role plays a critical part in shaping how creative strategy is developed, measured, and operationalized across the agency. The Senior Creative Strategist sets standards, mentors team members, influences cross-functional decision-making, and partners closely with Creative, Media, and Growth leadership to continuously raise the bar on performance creative.

What You’ll DoCreative Strategy Leadership
  • Own end-to-end omnichannel creative strategy across assigned brands, from strategic planning and briefing through execution, testing, and performance analysis.
Define evergreen creative systems and testing frameworks that drive sustained performance, not one-off wins.

  • Translate complex performance data into clear, executive-ready narratives that articulate creative impact, learnings, and forward-looking recommendations.

  • Act as the senior creative authority on assigned accounts, guiding strategy decisions and influencing client direction with confidence and clarity.

People Management & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Creative Strategists, providing strategic direction, performance feedback, and career development coaching.

  • Set and uphold quality standards for creative strategy, testing rigor, and analytical depth across the team.

  • Review and elevate team outputs to ensure strategic alignment, consistency, and excellence across all accounts.

  • Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management as the department scales.

Testing & Optimization
  • Architect and oversee creative testing roadmaps aligned to client goals, funnel stages, and media investment levels.

  • Map creative output to dedicated testing budgets (typically 10–20% of total paid media spend), ensuring efficient use of resources and high learning velocity.

  • Ensure testing programs are strategically sequenced, insight-driven, and designed to produce actionable learnings—not just volume.

  • Guide holistic messaging strategies across the full customer journey, including paid media, landing pages, and lifecycle channels such as email and SMS.

Performance Analysis & Reporting
  • Lead deep-dive creative performance analysis using Motion and platform-level data to identify winning themes, hooks, formats, and messaging patterns.

  • Apply consumer behavior insights to refine creative direction, addressing friction points such as clarity, urgency, and conversion drivers.

  • Contribute to agency-wide insights and reporting that surface trends by vertical, inform media strategy, and shape future creative investment.

Cross-Functional Strategy & Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Media, Creative Production, Growth, and Account teams to ensure creative strategy is fully integrated across omni-channel programs.

  • Provide senior-level strategic input on launches, promotions, and key business moments, shaping messaging, positioning, and offer strategy.

  • Serve as a trusted creative thought partner to internal stakeholders and client leadership teams.

Internal Strategy & Operations
  • Translate high-performing client strategies into scalable frameworks, playbooks, and best practices for the broader organization.

  • Develop and maintain SOPs for omnichannel creative strategy, testing methodology, and performance analysis.

  • Lead internal trainings and education initiatives to continuously upskill the creative strategy team.

  • Collaborate with department leaders to evolve workflows, introduce new tools or technologies, and improve creative operations at scale.

What You’ll Bring
  • 7+ years of experience leading digital creative strategy within performance marketing, with deep expertise in paid social.

  • Proven experience managing and developing high-performing team members in a creative or strategic function.

  • Strong background in Direct Response marketing and/or copywriting, with a clear understanding of performance drivers.

  • Demonstrated experience working across CPG and eCommerce brands.

  • Advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn data into clear, confident recommendations.

  • Hands-on experience using Motion for creative analysis and performance reporting.

  • Proficiency in Meta Ads Manager and TikTok Ads Manager; prior media buying experience is a plus.

  • Experience collaborating closely with media buyers, video editors, designers, and developers.

  • Exceptional communication skills and confidence presenting to senior client stakeholders.

  • Ability to give direct, constructive feedback and elevate the quality of work across a team.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, solving complex problems, and driving initiatives independently.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple high-impact workstreams.

  • A collaborative, high-accountability leadership style with a passion for building scalable creative systems.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary.

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Flexible work hours and remote work options.

  • Professional development and training opportunities.

  • Inclusive and supportive work environment that values creativity and innovation.

  • 401k with match
