Position Summary

The Loss Mitigation Director plays an important role in the organization by overseeing several activities related to the company’s Loss Mitigation functions.  Manages and develops direct reports through setting objectives, coaching, feedback, and reviews.  Oversees productivity of direct reports and monitors reports to ensure department efficiency and regulatory compliance for Loss Mitigation.  Assigns work/projects related to area(s) of expertise and supervision. Ensures business processes are conducted in a timely, accurate and compliant manner in full accordance with established investor, company, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Candidates located within San Diego County or within commuting distance (Temecula, Murrieta, Escondido for example) will be expected to work onsite 2 days a week unless business need arise. 
  • Following the 90-day ramp-up period, the position can transition to fully remote unless business needs arise.
  • Candidates located outside of California will be fully remote but will need to be onsite 1- 2 weeks for the first 3 months and then once a quarter or as business needs arise.

Compensation 

This role is an exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $94,000 to $135,000 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors operational performance/metrics to maximize productivity, efficiency, service, and compliance levels.
  • Provides goal setting, training, coaching, guidance, and recognition to team members; owns talent management for all of Loss Mitigation organization.
  • Monitors licensing requirements and licensing related processes to ensure coverage.
  • Prepares annual budget, manages department to monthly and annual expense budget.
  • Monitors escalated investor, compliance, and account issues to ensure timely and accurate responses in a manner that provides transparency to and an understanding of risk exposure.
  • Provides weekly/monthly productivity reports and status updates on trends and issues to senior management.
  • Follows up on and remediates action items/deficiencies to ensure direct manager is informed.
  • Practices sound decision-making processes to ensure that timely and accurate actions are being taken regarding regulations and guidelines.
  • Provides oversight and guidance when preparing for internal and external auditors, plays an active role when auditors are on-sight and responds to audit findings by preparing formal responses and ensuring remediation of noted issues.
  • Monitors the development of training to ensure changes and improvements relating to investor rules and regulations, compliance criteria, internal policy and guidelines, and best practices are followed.
  • Monitors departmental projects to ensure they are properly prioritized, developed, tracked, and implemented.
  • Works with Senior Servicing Analyst to ensure systems and processes are updated and tested. Works with Leadership Team to ensure policies and procedures reflect these changes.
  • Ensures policies and procedures reflect everyday workings of applicable departments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and some college, Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Ten or more years total mortgage default, loss mitigation and short sale experience, with at least five years in a supervisory role.
  • Expert-level knowledge of conventional and government mortgage loan documents, including overall processes and inter-relationships, standards and requirements, terminology, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to federal debt collection laws, Federal Bankruptcy Laws, and proper handling of other legal situations. Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, CFPB, and FDCPA preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, SmartSheets, and Power Point
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.

Requirements

Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; occasionally walks and/or stands.

Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish, and interpret information received visually and through audio, e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.

Environmental: Office environment – moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.


Travel: 5% or less

Mental: Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow. This role requires effective adaptation to workplace stressors, including customer service complaints, security responsibilities, and competing priorities. Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.

Schedules: Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.
