Role overview
The Director of Product Management is a senior technology leader responsible for defining the product vision, shaping the roadmap, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver innovative SaaS and technology solutions that achieve business outcomes and delight customers. This role combines strategic product leadership, hands-on execution, and people management to drive a portfolio of products from concept through launch and ongoing optimization.
Key responsibilities
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for a portfolio of technology products in alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of product managers and product owners, setting clear goals, coaching for impact, and elevating product management practices across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, design, architecture, and IT teams to translate strategy into clear product requirements and deliverables, ensuring high-quality, timely releases.
- Drive end-to-end product lifecycle management from discovery and business case development through launch, adoption, and iterative improvement using agile methodologies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, client sponsors, and key partners, to align priorities and communicate product plans and outcomes.
- Use customer insights, usage data, and market research to identify opportunities, validate problems, and shape the product backlog, balancing near-term wins with long-term platform investments.
- Partner with delivery and IT leadership to ensure projects are scoped, resourced, and staffed appropriately to meet targets for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Provide hands-on leadership as a player/coach, stepping into complex product or technical issues when needed to unblock teams and maintain momentum.
- Establish and track KPIs and OKRs for product performance, leveraging dashboards and analytics to guide decisions and communicate progress to executives and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement of product execution methodologies, introducing best practices in discovery, prioritization, release planning, and stakeholder communication.
- Stay current on technology, SaaS, and industry trends to inform product strategy and guide adoption of strategic technologies across the product portfolio and IT landscape.
- Own financial accountability for the product portfolio, including forecasting, tracking, and managing budgets to ensure financial health of initiatives and alignment with cost and revenue targets.
Education and experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in product management or IT product leadership within technology or SaaS organizations, including experience leading product teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA or similar) is preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling complex B2B or enterprise technology products, platforms, or services in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and competencies
- Strong leadership and people management skills with demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing product teams.
- Deep experience working with cross-functional partners (engineering, UX, architecture, sales, marketing, customer success, IT operations) to drive outcomes across the product lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and executive storytelling skills, including the ability to clearly articulate product strategy, trade-offs, and value to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort using data, experimentation, and financial metrics to drive prioritization and measure impact.
- Solid technical acumen with the ability to understand complex systems, troubleshoot issues, and engage credibly with engineering and IT teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a bias for action and the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously.
Target Compensation:
$165,000 - $175,000 / annually + bonus
Compensation Range
$141,900.00 - $212,900.00Currency
