Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Strategy & Planning to support our Platforms and Services (P&S) sector. The Director of Strategy & Planning will report to the Sector Vice President of Business Development, Strategy, and Planning. The Director will support the VP and P&S SLT in delivering portfolio growth for sustainable shareholder value. This deliverable is achieved by modeling future scenarios, analyzing complex business intelligence, and effectively communicating recommended course of action with senior leadership. This role is accountable for driving deliverables for the Integrated Business Planning Process, key strategic projects inclusive of potential M&A, monitoring and actioning product/technology roadmaps alongside the sector business units and maturing competitive intelligence across the sector portfolio.
The P&S sector comprises six business units ranging from combat vehicles to weapons systems, personal protection systems, and ordinance and propellants. The sector is part of BAE Systems INC and employees 13,000 people with annual revenue of $6B.
  • The preference will be for the position to be based close to Falls Church, VA and be onsite regularly
  • Remote work is considered and based out of a domestic P&S site
  • There will be 25% or more travel required

Responsibilities:
  • Support the VP of BD, Strategy, & Planning in directing the strategy agenda for the P&S Portfolio
  • Partner across the sector to develop/endure sound and executable strategies and roadmaps at all levels (Sector, business, product, technology)
  • Model and develop views of the future and corresponding strategic courses of action
  • Develop sector, business, product, and technology competitive intelligence
  • Lead the Sector for development of the Integrated Business Plan through all phases inclusive of collaboration with the business units and functional areas
  • Lead strategic projects in areas of interest
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external organizations and think-tanks to support Sector strategy development

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Business Development, Strategy, Market Growth, or similar
  • Experience in Defense (DoD) Contracting within International programs
  • Experience in People Management/Leadership
  • Knowledge of DoD appropriations/acquisitions and working understanding of international defense market
  • Broad awareness of strategic drivers including geopolitics, competitive landscape, and technology
  • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholder decision through the development of strategic courses of action
  • Strong ability to structure ambiguity, analyze large sets of data, and develop and communicate recommendations to others in simple terms
  • Proven ability to influence without positional authority
  • Collaborative, decisive, and sharp business acumen
  • Inspiring and effective team leader with experience managing and developing talent
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel, AI, and market/competitive research

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $196296 - $333704
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
