How you will create an impact


The Global Head of Compute Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing the strategic vision for compute infrastructure across the organization's global footprint. This position demands a leader who can architect scalable compute and storage solutions, build world-class engineering teams, and drive innovation while maintaining operational excellence at enterprise scale.


Strategic Responsibilities


  • Define and execute the global compute infrastructure strategy across on-premises, cloud, VMWare, hybrid, and edge environments
  • Drive technology selection, standardization, and architectural direction for all compute platforms
  • Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging compute technologies (AI/ML accelerators,  specialized hardware)

Leadership & Team Management


  • Build, lead, and mentor global compute engineering teams across multiple geographies
  • Foster culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear OKRs, KPIs, and performance metrics for all teams
  • Mentor senior engineering leaders and create career development pathways

Platform & Infrastructure Operations


  • Oversee design, deployment, and operation of global compute infrastructure
  • Ensure high availability (99.99%+) through robust architecture and disaster recovery planning
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code, automation, and self-service platforms
  • Drive SRE practices to improve reliability and reduce operational toil
  • Establish comprehensive observability, monitoring, and performance optimization frameworks

Financial Management


  • Optimize total cost of ownership and drive 20-30% annual efficiency improvements
  • Lead vendor negotiations with cloud providers and hardware manufacturers
  • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for major infrastructure investments

Technical Governance & Standards


  • Establish engineering standards, best practices, and architectural patterns
  • Define security, compliance, and governance frameworks for all compute environments
  • Implement capacity planning models and forecasting methodologies
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Drive sustainable computing practices to reduce environmental impact

Cross-Functional Collaboration


  • Partner with Product, Security, Finance, and Business teams to align compute solutions with needs
  • Provide regular executive briefings on strategy execution and business impact
  • Build strategic partnerships with technology vendors and industry peers
  • Represent organization at industry conferences and forums as thought leader

Innovation & Modernization


  • Champion adoption of Compute and Storage workloads across platforms
  • Build specialized compute platforms for AI/ML, HPC, and emerging workloads
  • Establish innovation labs and POC frameworks to evaluate new technologies

 

What you'll need to succeed


  • Experience: 10+ years of experience working on engineering and infrastructure management with a significant focus on managing Storage workloads.
  • Storage Platforms: Expert-level proficiency in at least one storage solution and backup solutions.
  • Proven expertise with AWS, including hands-on experience Backup and DR including Cyber resilency
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, data governance, and best practices for deploying and managing workloads.
  • IaC: Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Networking & Security: Solid understanding of cloud networking, security best practices, and identity and access management.

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ, the base salary range is $139,000 - $175,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
