THE OPPORTUNITY:
As the Director of Growth at ActBlue, you will drive revenue growth by leveraging strong sales expertise and partnering with cross-functional teams to increase market share. Reporting to the Chief Client Officer, you will support strategic initiatives to expand ActBlue's reach and impact by bringing new customers onto the platform. This role offers the unique opportunity to define, build, and lead ActBlue’s first dedicated sales team. Your leadership will focus on developing and overseeing effective sales strategies across key market verticals in the Democratic politics and progressive nonprofit ecosystem, fostering collaboration among account management, training, community engagement, and marketing teams to drive new client acquisition while aligning department efforts with ActBlue's revenue objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Define, develop, and execute new strategic business opportunities that align with ActBlue’s short and long-term goals, collaborating closely with the Chief Client Officer.
- Build ActBlue’s inaugural Growth team, mentoring and supporting team members and colleagues, creating a space for individuals to be engaged and valued while driving results and revenue growth.
- Establish OKRs and manage team performance to align with sales goals.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective sales processes that support ActBlue’s go-to-market objectives.
- Act as a key strategic advisor to senior leadership on growth tactics, opportunities for expansion, and potential market engagement strategies.
- Define, measure, analyze, and report on growth metrics to optimize strategies and ensure continuous alignment with organizational goals.
- Drive revenue growth through customer acquisition and expansion strategies
- Cultivate relationships with strategic partners to drive revenue and build long-term partnerships.
- Monitor industry trends and market shifts to identify opportunities and risks.
- Oversee the sales funnel from lead generation and prospecting to deal closure, ensuring a strong pipeline of opportunities and smooth relationship transition to the Account Management team.
- Ensure that all sales strategies and operations contribute to meeting departmental goals while maintaining alignment with ActBlue’s mission and values.
- May support supplementary projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient completion in line with organizational objectives and standards.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- 10-12+ years or equivalent of professional experience leading a sales function within a high-growth organization, preferably in the technology sector.
- Strong preference for candidates with extensive knowledge, experience, or connections in the Progressive nonprofit sector and/or Democratic politics.
- Proven success in cross-functional leadership, including a track record of working effectively with product, marketing, and customer service teams.
- Strong operational mindset, with the ability to streamline processes, implement scalable systems, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Skilled in data-driven decision-making, including tracking sales KPIs and overseeing the entire sales process in a CRM, ideally HubSpot.
- A collaborative leadership style that fosters teamwork, empowers others, and drives collective success.
- A passion for ActBlue’s mission and a strong commitment to supporting Democratic wins and the progressive movement through innovative growth strategies.
LOCATION AND COMPENSATION:
This posting is for a full-time, remote, salaried position. Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year). Additional travel may be required for select positions. ActBlue is currently authorized to support remote work employees in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Work Schedule: This role requires availability during established, regular business hours (Mon-Fri).
Work Environment: Employees can expect to work with distributed teams across all U.S. time zones. Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.
Bargaining Unit: Supervisory role not part of the Bargaining Unit. Certain employees who report to this position may be covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is expected to supervise, coach, and mentor a team of direct reports.
Salary Range Details:
Salary Range: $144,000 - $180,000 - $216,000
ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization. Final salary offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance and current team salary parity.
