Job Description

Albemarle is hiring for a Director, Global Payroll and Mobility. This position is hybrid (3-days per week on location) and located in Charlotte, NC.Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for innovative payroll solutions? Do you have extensive experience in global payroll operations, payroll transformation, and global mobility? If so, we want you to lead our Global Payroll team!

What You Will Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and refine payroll service delivery strategies and operating models to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Global Standardization: Standardize payroll processes globally while maintaining local flexibility.
  • Payroll Transformation: Lead initiatives to enhance scalability and efficiency through innovative solutions.
  • Compliance and Accuracy: Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions and compliance with corporate and country-specific policies.
  • Technology Optimization: Maximize the effectiveness of technologies and processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Vendor Management: Build and manage partnerships with third-party vendors to uphold high service standards.
  • Team Leadership: Coach, mentor, and lead team members to foster talent development and operational excellence.
  • Global Mobility: Manage global mobility processes and programs, including relocation and immigration.
  • Process Improvement: Streamline and automate payroll operations using advanced technologies, RPA, and AI tools.
  • Time and Attendance: Manage time and attendance systems to ensure accurate tracking of employee hours and compliance with labor laws, including integration of time and attendance data with payroll systems.
  • Performance Measurement: Develop and track KPIs to measure payroll operation success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee payroll accounting, ensure compliance with tax regulations, and manage time and attendance systems.

What You Bring

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience in global payroll leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting
  • Payroll Certification Designation
  • Proven ability to transform payroll operations and enhance scalability and efficiency
  • Extensive experience managing payroll providers and technologies
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and compliance with laws and policies
  • Strategic, goal-driven, self-motivated, organized, and committed to excellence
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence
  • Strong problem-solving and judgment skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proactive continuous improvement mindset with initiative to assist wherever necessary

Preferred:

  • Experience with Workday HCM, ADP GlobalView, ADP Streamline, SAP
  • Multi-state union and non-union experience with year-end/federal/state/local tax knowledge
