Position Summary
The Director of Finance oversees the policy accounting function and supports financial planning and analysis, financial accounting and controllership functions of the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.What will your job entail?
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the policy accounting function for an entity servicing federal crop insurance and private crop insurance programs
- Lead, mentor, and develop the policy accounting team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
- Ensure policy accounting processes follow provisions of standard reinsurance agreement and supplemental guidance on accounting in the federal crop insurance program
- Lead accounting documentation function, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all information and a complete documentation trail exists
- Assist in the preparation of the organization’s budget and financial forecasts
- Develop and distribute monthly financial and operational reports to key stakeholders
- Analyze variances and trends to guide management decisions
- Support training function by developing and potentially delivering training curriculum
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making at the management level, providing recommendations based on financial analysis and projections
- Reconcile, analyze and report on financial activity monthly, providing financial information to partner insurance carrier, FCIC, private market reinsurance and parent
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Work Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience working accounting or finance related field
- Insurance industry experience and supervisory experience preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

The target salary range for this position is $108,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually.The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
