TheGuarantors is a fintech company helping multifamily owners and operators mitigate leasing risk while expanding access for renters. With a deep understanding of owner, operator, and renter needs, we believe renters deserve better access to the home of their choice and operators deserve greater protection and growth opportunities. That’s why we’re leveraging our real estate expertise and using AI-driven renter underwriting to help operators qualify renters faster while mitigating the financial risk of renter default. With $7B+ in lease value protected, we work with 9 of the country’s top 10 operators, are the #1 lease guarantee provider nationwide, and have consistently been named one of Inc. 5000’s fastest-growing companies, one of Forbes’ Best Startup Employers, and one of Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500.

The Role

The Director of Engineering, Landlord Solutions, will lead a group of engineering teams responsible for building and scaling the products, tools, and workflows that serve landlords and multifamily operators across TheGuarantors ecosystem.

This is a leadership role for someone who can operate at the intersection of people management, technical strategy, execution discipline, and product partnership. You will be accountable for the effectiveness of multiple engineering teams and the Engineering Managers who lead them. Your success will be measured by the quality, predictability, and business impact of the teams you develop.

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who is technically credible, deeply systems-oriented, and able to help teams translate complex business problems into pragmatic, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Own

You will own the health, effectiveness, and delivery outcomes of our Landlord Solutions group, which consists of 3 engineering teams.

This includes leading Engineering Managers, strengthening team execution, guiding technical direction, partnering with Product during discovery and roadmap planning, and ensuring teams are focused on the highest-value work.

You will help shape the tools, workflows, and operational capabilities that enable landlords and multifamily operators to manage leasing, qualification, and risk more effectively. You will also play a key role in ensuring that engineering work is well-scoped, technically sound, aligned with business priorities, and delivered with urgency and quality.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and develop Engineering Managers across multiple teams.
  • Drive predictable delivery of high-impact business outcomes with strong quality and ownership.
  • Partner with Product to shape roadmaps, evaluate tradeoffs, and align engineering investments with business priorities.
  • Provide technical leadership on architecture, platform strategy, and cross-team decisions.
  • Improve execution through better planning, risk management, dependency coordination, and accountability.
  • Ensure teams focus on the highest-value work while balancing speed, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Support organizational growth through hiring, performance management, and leadership development.
What You Bring
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading Engineering Managers or multiple teams.
  • Strong technical judgment and credibility, with the ability to guide architecture and technical strategy.
  • Proven track record in building high-performing teams that deliver business-critical systems reliably.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Strong execution skills, including risk management, prioritization, and driving accountability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach managers and develop engineering leaders.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth environment with ambiguity and competing priorities.
What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means building teams that consistently deliver high-impact engineering outcomes while improving the long-term strength of our platform and organization.

Within your first 90 days, we expect you to develop a deep understanding of our Landlord Solutions teams, current technical landscape, delivery commitments, team health, leadership structure, and key product priorities. You will build strong relationships with Engineering Managers, Product leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders while identifying the highest-impact opportunities to improve execution, clarity, and technical direction.

Over time, you will improve delivery predictability, strengthen Engineering Manager capability, reduce cross-team friction, help teams make better technical decisions, and ensure Landlord Solutions becomes a strategic driver of value for our operator customers and the broader business.
