About the Role...

Zone & Co is seeking an accomplished Director of Engineering to lead and grow our engineering teams based in the Americas, while collaborating with engineering and product counterparts in EMEA and APAC, delivering innovative solutions for our global clients. This role will oversee development of two core products: ZoneReporting, a robust reporting and analytics platform built on Microsoft technologies, and ZoneBilling, our NetSuite-native billing solution. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a blend of strategic vision, hands-on technical expertise, and a passion for building high-performing teams. You will play a crucial role in shaping our engineering culture, driving technical excellence, and ensuring successful project delivery across regions.

What you'll do...

• Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of software engineers across the Americas, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent in the region.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams in EMEA and APAC to ensure alignment on technical vision, priorities, and delivery.
• Technical Excellence
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software solutions for ZoneReporting (Microsoft .NET technologies) and ZoneBilling (NetSuite SuiteCloud).
• Provide architectural oversight and hands-on technical leadership, particularly across systems built with C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, SQL Server, TypeScript, JavaScript and managed services in AWS and Azure.
• Conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and offer technical mentorship to maintain high engineering standards.
• Partner with AI and Data Platform leaders to ensure engineering teams can leverage internal data infrastructure and GenAI capabilities to build smarter, scalable solutions.
• Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of software through effective planning and resource management.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Customer Success, and other cross-functional partners to translate business needs into robust, scalable solutions.
• Work in close partnership with product teams in EMEA and APAC to ensure alignment of product strategy and execution across regions.
• Serve as a senior technical contact for strategic customer relationships in the region, ensuring satisfaction and partnership growth.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Prioritize and drive remediation of technical debt and foundational architecture improvements.
• Champion the use of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, and GenAI-powered development tools.
• Continuously evaluate and refine engineering processes to improve velocity, quality, and collaboration.
• Encourage and enable teams to make data-driven engineering decisions using metrics and insights to inform prioritization, quality, and process improvements.

What you'll need...

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
• Proven experience with 1) Microsoft .NET technologies: C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, SQL Server, Azure SQL, 2) cloud technologies like AWS or Azure, and 3) TypeScript, JavaScript. Ideal candidate has experience with NetSuite and the SuiteCloud platform.
• Familiarity with modern software development practices including Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps.
• Strong understanding of APIs (REST/SOAP), data modeling, and systems integration.
• Experience leading teams in the Americas and collaborating effectively across global regions including EMEA and APAC.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Product teams across geographies.
• Domain experience in fintech, billing, reporting, or ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills and able to effectively and succinctly communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs with non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and resources in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in NetSuite or Microsoft Azure/.NET technologies. Experience with integrating with NetSuite would really make you stand out.
• Hands-on experience with test automation (e.g., Jest, Cypress.io, or other test frameworks) and test case management systems like Qase.
• Experience working in remote-first, asynchronous team environments.
• Demonstrated use of integrating GenAI tools into product workflows or engineering operations to enhance engineering efficiency and productivity
• A metrics-driven engineering leader with the mindset of removing friction and increasing efficiency in the engineering process across the stack.
