Role Overview

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the development of our industry-leading cloud optimization product. This role will oversee all aspects of engineering execution—managing teams, setting technical direction, driving backlog priorities, ensuring operational excellence, and embedding AI into both our engineering processes and product functionality.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of technology strategy and execution. You should be passionate about leveraging AI to maximize engineering productivity and innovation while delivering scalable, world-class solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale Virtasant’s cloud optimization engineering team across a globally distributed workforce.
  • Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for our cloud optimization product, providing hands-on guidance and support.
  • Manage engineering work backlogs, prioritization, and delivery across multiple product areas.
  • Oversee ongoing product operations, ensuring high reliability, performance, and support.
  • Embed AI throughout engineering workflows to accelerate development, testing, and deployment.
  • Drive the integration of AI-driven capabilities into our core cloud optimization solution.
  • Partner with product management and other stakeholders to deliver customer-focused innovation.
  • Establish best practices for software engineering, DevOps, and cloud-native development.
  • Mentor and develop engineering leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Proven experience leading distributed, remote-first engineering teams.
  • Strong background in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern software development practices.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex, large-scale products in production.
  • Deep experience with AI-driven engineering practices (e.g., AI code generation, automated QA, intelligent monitoring).
  • Experience embedding AI features into SaaS products strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical judgment, with the ability to balance innovation and execution speed.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
