Stepping into the engineering department as Director of Engineering, you’ll be at the forefront of elevating our casino gaming operation—leading a team of motivated, talented engineers to craft innovative solutions that deliver a fun, friendly, and fair player experience. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to author a roadmap of features and technical innovations that help us rise above category competition. Working in tandem with a seasoned business stakeholder and product director, you’ll take a top-notch team to a new tier through product growth that directly translates to business success. What You'll Do: 

  • Collaborate closely to establish, champion and refine priorities, monitor delivery status, and shape a forward-looking roadmap that balances technical innovation with feature development. Ensure all efforts support long-term goals and competitive positioning. 
  • Engage with the Head of Delivery, Head of Technology, VP Product, and other stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities for engineering enhancement. Develop and align on actionable improvement plans that drive efficiency, scalability, and value across teams.
  • Ensure stakeholders have streamlined access to real-time project status updates, enabling informed decision-making and proactive alignment with broader business priorities. 
  • Carefully analyze the trade-offs and benefits of different approaches, make strategic choices on optimal courses of action, and effectively present and gain buy-in from stakeholders for impactful implementation. 
  • Foster a results-driven culture by mentoring and empowering casino area teams to achieve reliable, high-quality outputs with increasing autonomy, ensuring delivery excellence. 
  • Champion designing and implementation of scalable processes that enable consistent, efficient operations and generate continuous improvements in delivery. Ensure these processes minimize the need for constant revisiting and create a foundation for long-term growth. 
  • Collaborate with the team to define clear, impactful delivery goals for your direct reports and overall team that align with overarching business objectives. Hold team members accountable to achieve these targets, fostering a sense of ownership and commitment. 
  • Stay attuned to industry developments and competitor innovations, applying insights to maintain a competitive edge and anticipate emerging trends that could impact the casino technology landscape. Inspire excitement about how RSI can continue to be the leader in the industry. 

People Management & Development 

  • Ensure all formal performance reviews are conducted with a strategic focus on growth, providing actionable feedback that aligns with both team and organizational priorities. 
  • Translate high-level company OKRs into specific, actionable objectives for the area, creating a clear alignment between area contributions and broader business goals. Provide transparent connections between the two to foster understanding and engagement within the team. 
  • With objectives set, identify measurable key results that directly advance the area’s contributions toward achieving critical company OKRs, ensuring every effort aligns with organizational impact and ensure forward momentum. 
  • Maintain consistent communication within the area regarding OKR progress, ensuring alignment and momentum toward strategic goals. Share insights on company-wide performance and initiatives, keeping the team informed and focused. 
  • Regularly update the broader organization on the area’s major accomplishments, highlighting successes and elevating team members who’ve made significant contributions, fostering a culture of recognition and shared success. 
  • Inspire continuous individual contributors’ and managers’ growth by setting an example through impactful leadership, supporting career development through clear pathways and professional development opportunities aligned with strategic organizational goals. 

Engineering Leadership 

  • Champion a Comprehensive Improvement Framework:
    • Define Core Challenges: Clearly articulate and prioritize the primary challenges that need strategic attention.
    • Generate Targeted Solutions: Develop actionable ideas that align with long-term goals and address root causes effectively.
    • Drive Implementation Roadmaps: Create and execute detailed action plans to carry out improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives.
    • Establish Transparent Progress Visibility: Develop a structured system to monitor and communicate progress, keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged.
    • Measure and Report Impact: Define key performance indicators to evaluate the impact of changes and provide data-driven analysis to validate successes and areas for refinement. 
  • Implement identified solutions and conduct thorough impact analyses to assess outcomes, extract insights, and continuously refine improvement approaches. 

What You'll Bring:

  • 7+ years in a management role within software delivery, overseeing complex, high-impact projects with a focus on timely and quality-driven execution.
  • Advanced understanding of software engineering principles, the SDLC, and critical tools for delivery management, performance tracking, and process optimization across diverse teams. 
  • Extensive experience in casino gaming, with a nuanced understanding of customer expectations, industry standards, and elements that drive an exceptional gaming experience.
  • Skilled in engaging in and contributing to high-level technical discussions, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and long-term objectives. 
  • Excellent analytical abilities and diagnostic skills to swiftly address complex issues, make data-driven decisions, and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Proven ability to communicate strategic ideas, driving stakeholder buy-in and influencing diverse audiences toward process and product enhancements. 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain productivity and strategic focus in fast-paced, dynamic environments. 
  • Expertise in managing multiple priorities and projects concurrently while consistently delivering results on time. 
  • Strong skills in translating business requirements into actionable delivery plans, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. 
  • Skilled in conveying technical information to non-technical audiences, facilitating cross-functional meetings, and fostering a culture of open communication and continuous learning. 
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and coaching teams to achieve high performance, develop their skills, and advance professionally.
  • Spanish language would be an asset but not mandatory

This role spans a wide breadth of experience at Rush Street Interactive, welcoming candidates with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and locations. The salary range reflects potential variations in experience, skills, and location. The salary range does not reflect total compensation, which includes base salary, benefits, and/or bonuses. For candidates outside the US (Canada, Europe, Latin America), we take a locally informed approach to compensation and will share specific ranges based on your country of residence.


Location Eligibility: Open to candidates across the US (except California, Washington, Maryland, and New York).
