Lansweeper is expanding its engineering leadership with a newly created Director of Engineering role focused on AI-native platform development across IT, OT, and Cybersecurity domains.
As Director of Engineering, you will lead high-performing engineering organizations building advanced software platforms, intelligent systems, and scalable infrastructure that combine modern distributed systems engineering with foundational AI and machine learning technologies. You will play a critical leadership role in driving engineering execution, operational excellence, innovation, and organizational growth - while fostering a strong culture of ownership, accountability, technical excellence, and AI-native ways of working.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Austin, Texas with 2 days onsite per week
AI Fluency
At Lansweeper, we are building an AI-native engineering culture. We expect all engineers to actively use AI tools (such as Claude) in their day-to-day work to improve efficiency and output quality across the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, documentation, and system design.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and scale engineering organizations focused on AI-native infrastructure and cybersecurity platforms
  • Drive execution and delivery of highly scalable, reliable, and performant software systems across IT, OT, networking, and cybersecurity domains
  • Establish engineering processes that promote speed, quality, ownership, and accountability
  • Partner with executive leadership to define technical and organizational strategy
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and AI-native software delivery
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices and AI-native development methodologies across engineering teams
  • Mentor engineering leaders and senior technical talent to grow organizational capability

Key Requirements
Hard Skills
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of engineering organizations
  • Proven track record leading engineering teams building infrastructure, platform, or cybersecurity products
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable backend architectures
  • Technical background in C++, Go, or Rust
  • Strong understanding of foundational LLM and Machine Learning technologies and their application in production environments
  • Experience operating in high-growth and fast-paced engineering environments

Preferred / Nice to Have
  • Experience with network technologies, infrastructure intelligence, or visibility systems
  • Understanding of enterprise IT and OT ecosystems
  • Experience with cybersecurity analysis systems, SIEM, EDR, or threat intelligence platforms
  • Experience driving adoption of AI-assisted software development workflows and modern coding agents
  • Familiarity with modern AI engineering tooling such as Claude Code

AI Specific Skills
Lansweeper is an AI-native company currently undergoing a company-wide AI transformation across all departments and engineering functions. As Director of Engineering, you are expected to actively champion and embed AI-assisted development tools and LLM-based workflows across the engineering organization - not just use them personally but drive their adoption at scale. Leading with an AI-native mindset and enabling your engineering teams to work in AI-native ways is a hard requirement for this role, not a nice-to-have.
