An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business/Market Development Executive to join the Corporate Payments Partnerships Team. This role will be accountable to help drive the overall growth strategy, including market analysis, identification of payments use cases and prospecting with FinTechs and platforms seeking embedded payment solutions. This role is responsible for driving the overall growth strategy. This includes conducting market analysis, identifying payment use cases, and prospecting FinTechs and other companies interested in embedded payment solutions.. The ideal candidate acts as a payment consultant and is constantly networking in the market to identify appropriate opportunities.
The role will report directly to the Director of Partner Payments within the Corporate Payments line of business and will work closely with Business Development, Partner Management, Product, Strategy, Operations, Finance, WEX Bank, and associated lines of business to drive the strategy and growth.
This is a leadership position and is ideal for an experienced, results-orientated payments leader with a consultative sales and/or product first approach.
Reflecting the senior nature of this strategic role, the On-Target Earnings (OTE) is $300,000 - $350,000, with a competitive base salary and uncapped commissions.
How you'll make an impact:FinTech market insights including market trends, competitive analysis, research
Industry networking and relationship building with FinTechs
Build and qualify a robust pipeline and focus on the ‘right’ target companies and initiating contact with the correct people within that organization.
Support in the development of a FinTech integration and partnership value proposition to win and differentiate in the market
Effectively communicate WEX’s market proposition; accurately interpreting clients’ needs or pain points; proposing suitable solutions.
Understanding the prospect and their drivers and developing strong client relationships with a matrix of stakeholders within the organization
Preparing high quality presentations and proposals for submission to prospects in support of new business pitches and opportunities
Very experienced in contract negotiation
Working closely with the internal operations teams to optimize the sales process from the first customer contact and to ensure smooth delivery of client services in line with customer expectations
Position may be home based with the requirement to travel approximately 30-40% of the time to meet prospects along with regular visits to the company's headquarters based in Portland, Maine.
Experience you'll bring:Bachelor’s degree +
10+ years’ of payments experience
In depth knowledge of FinTech ecosystems, functionalities, workflows, and key players
Proven record of building business strategies and payment solutions
B2B payment experience and Virtual card/AP payment industry knowledge
Comprehensive understanding of financial services and the complex solution sales process
Ability to participate in strategy development and lead attainment of critical objectives
Proven track record of managing business development activities to achieve growth targets
Successful track record of building and maintaining strong relationships ranging from senior level executives to technical contacts
Demonstration of capabilities and skills for building trust, accountability and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, team player
Skilled at presenting ideas effectively to individuals or groups, and positioning to meet the objectives of the event or meeting
The pay for this role is performance-driven and designed to reward top performers. This position is eligible for a lucrative, uncapped commission plan.
On-Target Earnings (OTE): $275,000 - $350,000 (with uncapped potential)
The base pay range above represents the anticipated base salary for this position. Actual base pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package, which for this role is heavily weighted toward performance-based commissions.
