Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Director, Digital Engagement and Innovation to join our Medical Affairs Digital Engagement and Innovation team. This role will report to the Head of Digital Engagement and Innovation and be responsible for driving capability evolution, digital transformation, and operational excellence across Medical Affairs. The ideal candidate will lead various digital initiatives, including AI integration, digital content strategy coordination, and medical affairs process optimization, ensuring the seamless adoption of innovative solutions. This individual will play a key role in aligning digital engagement strategies, data analysis, and efficiency enhancements within Medical Affairs.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape digital transformation in Medical Affairs, leveraging AI, analytics, and digital strategies to drive innovation and efficiency.
Responsibilities:

Digital Innovation Leadership (30%)
• Lead the execution of digital transformation initiatives within Medical Affairs, ensuring adoption of emerging technologies
• Partner with key stakeholders to implement innovative digital solutions to enhance engagement and operational efficiency
• Manage the execution of digital campaigns and technology deployments (e.g., SPROUT management)
• Manage the assessment and optimization of AI initiatives and other pilot programs to enhance engagement and efficiency
• Assist in evaluation and integration of new digital technologies into Medical Affairs workflows
• Support the leadership in building capability in the organization from a process, people and technology perspective to continue to drive adoption of digital solutions
• Document and share best practices for digital innovation projects
Digital Operations Coordination (20%)
• Oversee the end-to-end execution of digital initiatives, ensuring alignment with Medical Affairs objectives
• Maintain operational timelines, resource allocation plans, and status reports
• Track deliverables and maintain comprehensive documentation of digital workflows
• Drive cross-functional collaboration to streamline digital project execution
Digital Engagement and Content Management (20%)
• Lead the pull through of digital newsletters, website updates, and other digital content initiatives
• Collaborate with agency partners and internal stakeholders for content development and approval
• Ensure compliance with medical, legal, and regulatory review processes
• Manage content calendars and editorial schedules to align with Medical Affairs strategy
Congress & Scientific Meeting Support (10%)
• Oversee digital execution for major medical congresses in collaboration with the Congress Excellence process (e.g., WCN, NKF, ERA, ASN)
• Ensure timely website updates and maintenance related to congress activities
• Implement and optimize digital congress strategies for enhanced engagement
• Track and analyze congress-related digital performance metrics
Analytics & Reporting Support (20%)
• Lead the collection, organization, and interpretation of digital media and digital initiative performance data
• Develop and optimize DIME dashboards to provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making
• Provide data-driven recommendations to optimize digital engagement strategies
• Collaborate with commercial analytics teams to enhance reporting capabilities and strategic decision-making
Education/Experience Requirements:

• Advanced degree in a related field (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business, Communications, Digital Marketing, or similar). Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered
• Minimum 8 years of experience in digital operations, innovation, or implementation roles, preferably in healthcare or the pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven experience in digital content management, execution, and optimization
• Strong expertise in analytics, reporting, and performance tracking
• Hands-on experience with CRM systems and digital workflow management tools
• Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to navigate compliance and regulatory requirements within digital initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Medical Affairs or healthcare communications
• Experience in AI implementation, machine learning applications, or digital automation solutions
• Knowledge of medical congress strategies and execution
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry compliance requirements
• Experience driving change management and capability building initiatives within a corporate environment

• Tech-savvy with a strong ability to learn and implement new digital tools quickly
• Ability to travel (30) % domestic and internationally.
• All positions have an essential job function to be able to perform face to face work with colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego. No role is expected to be 100% remote.

Compensation: Our competitive compensation package includes a combination of both cash compensation (base pay and short-term incentive) and long-term incentive compensation (company stock), designed to recognize, retain, and reward employees.

Target Base Pay Range:

$181,000.00 - $235,000.00
