The Director of Data and Enterprise Applications is a strategic and hands-on technology leader responsible for overseeing the architecture, development, integration, and support of enterprise business applications and data platforms. This role drives digital transformation by aligning enterprise systems, data infrastructure, and analytics capabilities with organizational goals. This role will lead the BI and data engineering teams to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and actionable insights across the organization. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Data warehouse, business intelligence, enterprise apps such as HRIS, financial systems and cloud-based data platforms, strong background in modern data architecture, data modeling, ETL pipelines, BI tools along with strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Role Description:
Enterprise Applications Management
Lead the implementation, integration, and optimization of enterprise applications (e.g., HRIS, Finance).
Ensure enterprise applications support critical business functions, are well-maintained, and aligned with user needs.
Develop long-term application strategies in collaboration with business stakeholders.
Data & Analytics Leadership
Oversee enterprise data strategy, governance, architecture, and platform management.
Drive adoption of BI/analytics tools and data platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, etc.).
Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, quality, and security across systems.
Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data warehouse solutions
Ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and reporting needs.
Define and drive the BI roadmap to align with organizational goals and KPIs.
Partner with business stakeholders to identify reporting needs and ensure delivery of actionable insights.
Data Governance & Quality:
Establish data governance standards, policies, and practices to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance.
Collaborate with Data Governance and Compliance teams to support regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOX).
Lead data quality initiatives and implement robust data validation processes.
Business Partnering:
Collaboration with business stakeholders to understand their needs and challenges.
Identification of opportunities where technology solutions can improve business processes and outcomes.
Acting as a liaison between the IT department and specific business units, ensuring business needs are met.
Solution Development & Implementation:
Design and development of IT solutions that align with business requirements.
Working with cross functional IT teams and external vendors to implement solutions.
Ensuring solutions meet quality, compliance, and security standards.
Developing and maintaining documentation for IT solutions, as well as providing training and proper communication to business users on system changes.
Project Management:
Potential management of IT projects related to solution implementation, upgrades, or enhancements.
Development of project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Coordination of resources and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Support & Maintenance:
Providing ongoing support for implemented solutions.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues.
Collaboration with IT support teams and vendors to address technical problems.
Security & Compliance:
Providing solutions complying with relevant security standards and compliance requirements
Implementing and managing security measures to protect the organization’s IT systems and data
Performing regular risk assessments and implementing disaster recovery plans
participating in any risk management efforts.
Continuous Improvement:
Identification of opportunities to optimize existing solutions and processes.
Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Team Leadership and Development
Tracking and managing the performance of team members, providing feedback, and addressing any performance issues.
Assigning tasks, setting priorities and overseeing daily operations of the team.
Recruit, hire and develop team
Budgeting and Resource Management
Managing budget and allocating resources for various projects and operational needs.
Evaluating costs and seeking opportunities to optimize spending (ongoing task!).
Renegotiating vendor contracts, identifying areas for cost savings and ensuring that IT expenses align with the budget.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
Maintaining relationships with technology vendors and service providers (includes negotiating contracts, reviewing performance, making recommendations for vendor selection or changes etc.).

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of experience in data engineering, BI, or data analytics, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
Strong experience with enterprise data warehouses, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
Hands-on experience with BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
Proven track record of leading data teams and delivering enterprise-wide analytics solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with business partners and IT teams.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues and find creative solutions.
Project Management Skills: Ability to manage projects, timelines, and budgets.
Business Relationship Skills: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with business partners.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with other team members.
Business Acumen: Understanding business principles and how IT solutions can drive value.
Training and Presentation Skills: Ability to effectively train business users and present information.
Compliance Knowledge: Understanding relevant regulations and compliance standards, particularly in a healthcare environment.
Preferred
Experience in Agile, DevOps, or DataOps environments.
Familiarity with data cataloging and governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure).
Experience with scripting and data languages: SQL, Python, etc. Relevant certifications (e.g., Snowflake Architect, Microsoft Data Platform, Tableau Certified Professional) are a plus.
