The Director of Data & Analytics will lead the Data & Analytics team, define product strategies, ensure quality outcomes, and drive user adoption of data products. They will act as a technical lead in customer interactions while balancing various internal and external data-related priorities.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, veteran leader to spearhead our Data & Analytics division, reporting to the CTO. This is a high-impact, strategic role where you will be the primary architect of our external-facing data strategy. You will bridge the gap between complex data engineering and high-touch customer value, ensuring that our SaaS portfolio provides market-leading insights directly to our users.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Performance: Full accountability for the growth, performance management, and hiring of the Data & Analytics team. You will build a culture of excellence, ensuring the team is structured to meet evolving business needs.
- Accountability for Outcomes: Own the end-to-end execution of the team’s strategy. You are responsible for the quality, accuracy, and business impact of all outputs and outcomes generated against the roadmap.
- Product Strategy & Execution: Proactively define the roadmap for in-product analytics and reporting features across our entire SaaS portfolio. You will turn raw data into a competitive differentiator that drives customer retention and expansion. Strong coordination and communication required with the wider Product Management and Engineering teams.
- Go-To-Market (GTM) Leadership: Own the end-to-end launch of data products. This includes partnering with Marketing and Sales on positioning, training customer-facing teams, and directly measuring and driving user adoption post-launch to ensure the product delivers on its value proposition.
- Customer Advocacy & Interaction: Act as the strategic technical lead in high-stakes customer meetings. You will translate complex data capabilities into business value for our most strategic enterprise clients.
- Technical contribution: While this role is not expected to be routinely hands-on, the ability to do so to enable or support the team in achieving its roadmap and strategy may be necessary.
- Strategic Prioritization: Masterfully balance three competing workstreams:
- Product Analytics: Customer-facing, embedded reporting features.
- Internal BI: Data-driven decision support for our internal Product, Sales, and Finance teams.
- Enterprise Custom Needs: Handling bespoke reporting requirements for Tier-1 global accounts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- SaaS DNA: 10+ years of experience in Data/Analytics, with a proven track record working in Software-as-a-Service product companies multiple times.
- Leadership Tenure: At least 3 years of experience in a Director-level role leading cross-functional teams, with full responsibility for hiring and performance management.
- Technical Foundations: You must have "hands-on" roots, with prior experience in Data Engineer or Data Analyst roles. You possess deep practical knowledge of data lakes, data warehouses, ETL pipelines, and BI suites.
- Tooling Familiarity: Technical and practical understanding of the modern data landscape, including familiarity with tools such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, PowerBI, Sisense, Looker, or similar.
- Product Management Focus: Recent experience must be focused on leading teams with an emphasis on external product-embedded or adjacent reporting, including direct responsibility for product management and GTM execution.
- Market Success & Adoption: Proven experience not only building product functionality but successfully launching it to customers and driving measurable engagement.
- Portfolio Experience: Demonstrated experience managing data strategies for a portfolio of products, ensuring consistency in data governance and user experience across different applications.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) data experience: Demonstrated in-the-product experiences which involve the use of AI/ML capabilities used in customer-facing reporting and data insights.
Success Metrics for this Role
- Team Growth & Retention: Success in hiring and developing top-tier data talent.
- Feature & User Adoption: Percentage of active customers utilizing in-product reporting.
- Roadmap Velocity: Ability to meet milestones across internal and external data workstreams.
- Ownership: Clear and accountable execution with the team on the roadmap and strategy, evolving over time.
