The Role

We are seeking a strategic, commercially minded, and relationship-oriented Director of Business Development to join the Yahoo Search team. In this role, you will be responsible for advancing one of Yahoo’s most critical and complex partnerships — helping to evolve it from operational excellence to deeper strategic and commercial alignment.

This is not a traditional transactional BD role. Instead, it requires a seasoned leader who can thoughtfully manage a dynamic, high-impact partner relationship over time — identifying new business opportunities, enhancing joint value, and aligning goals through careful program oversight, data-informed insights, and trust-building at multiple levels of the organization.

You will serve as a key interface between Yahoo and the partner, collaborating across Yahoo’s internal product, engineering, legal, finance, and executive teams to deliver impactful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary business lead for a major, multi-dimensional partnership central to the growth and performance of Yahoo Search.

  • Evolve the partnership through commercial strategy, rigorous analysis, and thoughtful alignment with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the value of the relationship through creative business models, product integrations, and scalable programs.

  • Structure, negotiate, and manage refinements to partnership agreements, including revenue-sharing arrangements and performance metrics.

  • Build executive and operational-level relationships with partner stakeholders, establishing trust and credibility over time.

  • Drive program management excellence across internal teams to ensure seamless execution and delivery of joint initiatives.

  • Monitor industry developments, partner priorities, and internal performance data to proactively surface strategic insights and recommend action.

Qualifications
  • 10–15 years of experience in business development, partnerships, strategy, or a related function in the technology or internet sector.

  • Demonstrated experience managing and evolving high-value strategic relationships, ideally with partners in search, browsers, mobile, or platforms.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; trusted advisor with strong executive presence.

  • Sharp commercial instincts with an ability to balance strategic vision with operational rigor and detail.

  • Analytical and data-literate; comfortable using business metrics to inform and guide decisions.

  • Adept at navigating cross-functional environments; strong collaborator across product, legal, finance, and executive leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Attributes
  • Familiarity with the search or ad tech ecosystem and revenue models.

  • Experience working within or alongside large platform companies or global distribution partners.

  • High emotional intelligence, with a talent for relationship-building and diplomacy in complex environments.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
