JOB DESCRIPTION 

Mainline, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Director of Business Development & Strategic Accounts to drive revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, and expand our presence within the telecommunications construction industry.

 

This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining executive-level customer relationships, identifying market expansion opportunities, and serving as the primary point of contact for key accounts. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of telecom infrastructure construction, fiber deployment programs, and utility contracting environments.

 

The Director of Business Development & Strategic Accounts will work closely with the President and operational leadership team to ensure alignment between sales efforts, customer expectations, and operational execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

 Business Development

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new revenue opportunities within telecommunications, fiber broadband, utility, and infrastructure markets.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities that support Mainline's growth objectives.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers at telecommunications providers, utilities, engineering firms, and prime contractors.
  • Lead proposal development, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and customer presentations.
  • Track market activity, competitor positioning, and upcoming bid opportunities.

 

  

Strategic Account Management

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned key accounts.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings to understand future work forecasts, performance expectations, and potential issues.
  • Improve communication flow between customers and Mainline's operations team.
  • Identify risks, concerns, and opportunities before they impact project performance.
  • Develop account growth strategies designed to increase wallet share and long-term customer retention.

 

Executive Relationship Management

  • Establish trusted relationships with Director, VP, and executive-level customer contacts.
  • Represent Mainline at industry events, conferences, customer meetings, and networking functions.
  • Provide customer intelligence and market feedback to company leadership.
  • Assist in resolving escalated customer concerns while maintaining strong working relationships.

 

Strategic Planning & Forecasting

  • Assist leadership in forecasting future revenue opportunities and market demand.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline reporting.
  • Provide monthly business development updates, opportunity tracking, and revenue forecasts.
  • Support acquisition evaluations, strategic partnerships, and expansion initiatives as needed.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

 

Work Environment

The position has remote capabilities but ideally the candidate will be within the Southeastern Region (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia); local to Greenville, South Carolina, preferred but not required. Work hours will be dictated by the needs of the business, including nights and weekends. On occasion, for special projects, or to attend company approved meetings, travel outside the normal area will be required (75%).

 

Physical Demands

 

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk long distances on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, occasionally lift moderate weights (up to 50 pounds), and inspect various areas of a construction site in all weather conditions, which may involve reaching, crawling, and stretching; they also need good vision, hearing, and the ability to stand for extended periods. The employee is required to sit for extended periods of time while traveling by the most efficient method available.

 

Travel Required

 

Up to 75% of travel is required for this role.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

  • 5+ years of telecommunications, utility, telecom infrastructure construction, or infrastructure industry experience.
  • Demonstrated success generating new revenue and managing customer relationships.
  • Existing industry network and relationships within fiber, telecom, broadband, utility, or construction markets.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Proven ability to work independently and produce measurable results.

 

Preferred

  • Experience working with telecommunications providers, broadband operators, or utility companies.
  • Knowledge of underground and aerial fiber telecom construction programs.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar customer accounts.
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales pipeline management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field.
