About the job

Machinify is the leading provider of AI-powered software products that transform healthcare claims and payment operations. Each year, the healthcare industry generates over $200B in claims mispayments, creating incredible waste, friction, and frustration for all participants: patients, providers, and especially payers. We are seeking a Director of Analytics and Business Optimization. This role will be responsible for leading the design, execution, and scaling of the analytics function at Machinify. The initial focus will be on personally driving high-impact analyses that inform business optimization;and over time, building and leading a high-performing analytics team. This role requires a strong analytical background, deep business acumen, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights that guide operational and strategic decisions. Reporting to the Chief AI Officer, the Director will work closely with business, product, and engineering leaders to ensure analytics drives measurable improvements in customer and company outcomes.

What You Will Do
  • Lead critical business analyses: Perform end-to-end analytics across payment operations, chart review workflows, and customer performance metrics to identify optimization opportunities.

  • Design foundational data assets: Build and maintain the base data sets, aggregates, and pipelines required for robust reporting and insight generation.

  • Create business dashboards: Partner with engineering and product teams to deliver comprehensive reporting dashboards that provide leaders with real-time visibility into operational and financial performance.

  • Run simulations and financial models: Use historical data to design models that simulate the impact of business decisions—helping leadership understand trade-offs and predict outcomes of operational “knob-turning.”

  • Deliver ad hoc insights: Scope and execute analyses to answer urgent or strategic questions posed by executives and operational leaders.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Translate business problems into analytical approaches and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Hire and scale a team: As the business grows, recruit, mentor, and manage a team of analysts to extend the reach and impact of the analytics function.

  • Drive continuous improvement: Establish best practices in analytics, promote data-driven decision-making, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.

What You Bring
  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related discipline).

  • 10+ years of analytics, business intelligence, or quantitative consulting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally including start-up or growth-stage company experience.

  • Technical proficiency in SQL/python and ability to interact with modern database systems to manipulate datasets

  • Proven track record of delivering high-impact analyses and driving measurable business improvements.

  • Experience designing and building core data sets, dashboards, and business intelligence infrastructure.

  • Strong financial modeling and simulation skills, with the ability to quantify the impact of strategic and operational changes.

  • Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to executives and cross-functional partners.

  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and scaling high-performing analytics teams.

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and balancing short-term needs with long-term strategic priorities.

  • Optimism, resilience, and a collaborative spirit; you thrive on helping both your team and the business succeed.
