The Director, AI Cloud Engineering  is responsible for identifying AI use cases (GenAI and Agentic AI) within the areas of Agile, Reliability Engineering, Release Engineering, and Application Modernization. This role will focus on developing and implementing GenAI solutions, creating proof of concepts (POCs), and driving these solutions to production, with a strong emphasis on agentic workflow frameworks and hands-on implementation. Additionally, the role requires deep cloud engineering and architecture skills to design, implement, and integrate cloud solutions effectively. 

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location (Charlotte, NC; Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL or Columbus, OH) 3 days a week. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Responsibilities: 

Strategic Technology Enablement: 

  • Identify and define use cases for GenAI solutions across Agile, Reliability Engineering, Release Engineering, and Application Modernization. 
  • Develop and deliver cloud technology strategies that align with the overall technology vision. 
  • Create a view of the current state technology landscape, identify gaps, and propose innovative GenAI/ Agentic AI solutions. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards. Develop reference architectures to guide the implementation of GenAI / Agentic AI solutions. 

Solution Development & Delivery: 

  • Lead the creation of POCs to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed GenAI solutions. 
  • Hands-on development and implementation of agentic capabilities using GenAI technologies. 
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of GenAI solutions, from initial concept to production deployment, including collaborating with cross functional teams to drive adoption and integration.
  • Provide expert guidance on the application of GenAI technologies to enhance operational effectiveness. 

Agentic Workflow Implementation: 

  • Develop and implement agentic workflow frameworks to automate and optimize processes. 
  • Utilize voice-enabled AI tools to streamline tasks and enhance productivity. 
  • Drive the integration of agentic capabilities into existing systems and workflows. 

Cloud Solutioning & Integration: 

  • Design and implement cloud solutions with a deep understanding of AWS and GCP platforms, ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure and applications. 
  • Develop strategies for cloud migration, optimization, and cost management. 
  • Provide technical leadership in cloud architecture, security, and best practices. 

Innovation & Market Trends: 

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing and emerging GenAI technologies (e.g., Agentic Workflow Frameworks such as Langchain, LangGraph, Aazmon Bedrock Agent, Azure AutoGen, GCP Vertex AI, etc.). 
  • Facilitate technology selection workshops and proof-of-concept projects to evaluate new technologies, lead the analysis of market trends to identify opportunities to leverage GenAI.

Training & Mentoring: 

  • Provide training and mentoring to team members on AI & GenAI technologies, agentic workflows, and implementation strategies. 
  • Share knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of experience in technology strategy and implementation, with a focus on GenAI solutions and agentic workflows. 
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. 
  • Experience in implementing technology solutions in complex organizational environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large-scale projects. 
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging GenAI technologies and tools, and deep engineering experience in multiple cloud platforms, preferably AWS and GCP. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly valued. 
  • Relevant certifications in AI, cloud technologies such as GCP and AWS in AI/ML, or architecture frameworks are preferred.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$160,800 - $241,200
