Position Summary

The Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist plays a key role in shaping and amplifying the company’s brand presence within the renewable energy sector. This position is responsible for developing and executing digital marketing strategies, managing content across platforms, and crafting communications that highlight the company’s mission to advance clean energy solutions. The ideal candidate combines creativity, technical expertise, and purpose-driven storytelling to engage customers, partners, and communities.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Marketing & Campaigns

  • Develop and implement digital marketing campaigns to promote renewable energy projects, services, and initiatives.

  • Manage online advertising (Google Ads, LinkedIn, social platforms) to drive awareness, engagement, and lead generation.

  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance using analytics tools; prepare performance reports with insights and recommendations.

  • Oversee website updates and SEO optimization to enhance visibility for renewable energy content and project pages.

  • Coordinate email marketing and CRM campaigns to nurture client and stakeholder relationships.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Create compelling written and visual content that communicates the company’s sustainability mission, project milestones, and industry leadership.

  • Write and edit content for web pages, press releases, blogs, newsletters, and social media posts.

  • Develop visuals and multimedia (graphics, infographics, videos) that support project promotion and brand awareness.

  • Ensure all content aligns with the company’s tone, brand standards, and messaging priorities.

Social Media & Community Engagement

  • Manage social media presence across LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and emerging platforms.

  • Grow audience engagement and build brand advocacy through consistent and authentic storytelling.

  • Monitor social media trends, industry news, and competitor activity to inform content strategy.

  • Support communication efforts for events, webinars, and community outreach related to renewable energy education and sustainability.

Communications & Collaboration

  • Partner with internal teams (Project Development, HR, and Operations) to highlight employee stories, company culture, and corporate responsibility initiatives.

  • Collaborate with media partners, industry associations, and public relations agencies to promote company visibility.

  • Assist with internal communications to ensure employees are informed and aligned with the company’s goals and initiatives.

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in our Charlotte NC corporate office. Relocation assistance may be available for well-qualified candidates to support a smooth transition to the area. ​

  • Travel: up to 25%

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, policy, or related field AND one (1) year or more of related work experience

  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, high school diploma/GED AND five (5) years or more years of related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in digital marketing, corporate communications, or brand management — experience in the energy, sustainability, or environmental sector preferred.

  • Proven success managing digital marketing campaigns, content calendars, and social media platforms.

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate technical or industry content into accessible, engaging messages.

  • Proficiency with digital tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, HubSpot (or similar CRM/automation tools), and social media management platforms.

  • Familiarity with SEO/SEM strategies, website CMS (e.g., WordPress), and design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and measure communication effectiveness.

  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and environmental impact.

  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools.

  • Professional with a positive attitude and capable of contributing to a collaborative, dynamic, and team-oriented culture

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work effectively and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
