SmartSuite is the AI-native work platform for GRC, IT, projects and business operations. Risk, compliance, audit and resilience teams use the platform to replace dozens of disconnected tools with one connected system of record. We are hiring a Chief Revenue Officer to own our revenue growth strategy, build and scale the sales organization, and lead our direct and partner-led enterprise sales motions. You have successfully scaled a B2B SaaS revenue organization, understand the GRC market, and are ready to help lead SmartSuite through its next phase of growth.

About SmartSuite

SmartSuite is the AI-native work platform for GRC, IT, projects and business operations. Founded in 2021 to replace legacy GRC tools with connected ones, the platform brings data, automation, AI, permissions and reporting together in one governed environment, so risk, compliance, audit and resilience teams can run their programs in a single system of record instead of across dozens of disconnected tools. More than 2,000 organizations in 100+ countries use the platform. The company holds a SOC 2 Type II report and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, and is led by builders who have spent decades helping enterprises run governed programs at scale.

What we value
  • Customer impact first: outcomes customers can prove, not features we can list.
  • Craft matters: good UX is how teams adopt and sustain better ways of working.
  • Earn trust every day: transparency, security and accountability at the core.
  • Move fast, stay responsible: speed and discipline, with reliability, governance and control.
  • Build for unified, connected work: connected workflows, data and accountability across teams.
  • Keep improving: learn quickly and raise the bar with every release.
Why SmartSuite
  • The problem is real: organizations manage risk, compliance, audit, cybersecurity and resilience across dozens of disconnected tools. The platform replaces that with one connected system of record.
  • The customers are here: more than 2,000 organizations in 100+ countries.
  • The opportunity to scale: lead SmartSuite's revenue organization at a pivotal stage, building the strategy, talent and infrastructure that will define our next chapter.
  • Executive-level impact: work directly with our CEO and executive leadership team to shape the company's commercial strategy and long-term growth.

About the role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in the reliability, security, and scalability of SmartSuite's cloud infrastructure.  This is a hands-on engineering position for someone who enjoys taking ownership of complex infrastructure, solving production challenges, and building systems that make development and deployment more efficient. You'll work closely with our engineering and product teams to maintain and improve our AWS environment, CI/CD pipelines, containerized services, and observability capabilities. We're looking for someone who understands what it takes to operate a production SaaS platform at scale and can balance immediate operational needs with long-term architectural improvements.

What you will do

AWS Infrastructure & Platform Engineering

  • Build, maintain, and optimize our production AWS infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and security.
  • Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, developing reusable modules and standardized configurations.
  • Operate and improve AWS services including ECS, Lambda, VPC, S3, IAM, SQS, and CloudWatch.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize infrastructure performance, resource utilization, and cloud costs.

CI/CD & Deployment Automation

  • Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines that support efficient, reliable software delivery.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, and operational processes to reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with software engineers to streamline development workflows, improve deployment practices, and reduce release risk.
  • Support the implementation of deployment strategies that improve platform availability and minimize disruption.

Reliability, Monitoring & Security

  • Maintain and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents, investigate root causes, and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Strengthen infrastructure security through effective IAM policies, network configurations, access controls, and AWS best practices.
  • Support security reviews, compliance initiatives, and ongoing improvements to operational resilience.
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation to support production platform reliability.

Engineering Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot infrastructure challenges and improve application performance.
  • Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies through automation and improved tooling.
  • Contribute to infrastructure architecture discussions and help establish scalable engineering standards.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, operational procedures, and technical decisions.
  • Take ownership of infrastructure initiatives from planning through implementation and ongoing support.
What you bring
  • 5–8 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure, with significant hands-on experience supporting production environments.
  • Strong experience designing, managing, and optimizing infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS, Lambda, VPC, S3, IAM, SQS, and CloudWatch.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Strong working knowledge of Docker, containerized applications, and container orchestration, ideally AWS ECS.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, Go, or Bash.
  • Experience supporting production applications with demanding reliability, availability, and performance requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex infrastructure and application issues.
  • A proactive ownership mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a multi-tenant SaaS platform is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming technologies.
  • Familiarity with blue/green deployments, canary releases, and other advanced deployment strategies.
  • Experience defining and monitoring service-level indicators (SLIs) and service-level objectives (SLOs).
  • Experience with Kubernetes or Amazon EKS.
  • Background supporting enterprise software in regulated industries, particularly financial services or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar security and compliance frameworks.
  • Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or event-driven architectures.
  • AWS certifications or demonstrated commitment to continued technical development.
Practical details
  • Base Salary: $125,000 - $140,000
  • Benefits:
    • Medical, dental and vision coverage, with up to 100% of premiums covered
    • Flexible PTO & 12 paid holidays
    • Paid parental leave
