About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a passionate DevOps Automation Engineer to help build and evolve our Internal Developer Platform (IDP) into a modern, self-service, GitOps-driven ecosystem. This role is ideal for a developer who understands the toil of infrastructure, someone who has experienced the challenges of deploying and operating applications and is driven to eliminate those barriers for others.
You'll work hands-on to design and implement self-service automation, enabling developers to provision infrastructure, deploy services, and manage environments with minimal friction. Your work will help create a common control plane that abstracts hybrid cloud complexity and accelerates the adoption of cloud-native architectures.
In this role, you will:
  • Design and implement self-service workflows for common developer tasks such as service scaffolding, environment provisioning, and CI/CD setup.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) modules using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane.
  • Integrate the IDP with internal systems including GitHub, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, and observability platforms.
  • Implement guardrails and policy-as-code to ensure secure, compliant, and scalable automation.
  • Contribute to the development of developer portals, service catalogs, and golden paths that simplify application delivery.
  • Monitor and improve the performance, reliability, and usability of the platform.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and developers to ensure the platform is intuitive and effective.
  • Contribute to internal documentation and onboarding materials to support adoption and ease of use.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5 + years of experience with IaC: Terraform, Ansible, Crossplane or similar tools
  • 5 + year of experience with CI/CD: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, or equivalent
  • 5 + years of experience in Scripting & Programming: Python, Bash, or Go
Desired Qualifications:
  • IaC & Automation: Strong experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tools.
  • CI/CD Systems: Familiarity with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, or equivalent
  • Scripting & Programming: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go
  • Containers & Orchestration: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Developer Portals: Exposure to Backstage, Port, Cortex, or similar platforms
  • GitOps: Understanding of declarative infrastructure and delivery using tools like ArgoCD or Flux
  • Observability: Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack
  • Security & Policy: Experience implementing policy-as-code and secure automation practices
  • Experience with service catalogs, API gateways, or internal developer tooling.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices and security automation
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS)
  • Background in platform engineering or developer enablement teams
