General summary:

The Desktop Engineer II is responsible for establishing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and computer equipment to ensure the proper functioning of the organization's enterprise-wide desktop services across multiple locations. This role provides second-level technical support, troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues, and escalating problems as needed to minimize disruptions for end-users.

Working under general supervision, the Desktop Engineer II installs and upgrades operating systems, resolves network connectivity issues, and serves as the main contact for client support requests. This position assists in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of desktop hardware and software to ensure compatibility, reliability, and optimal performance.

The role also includes developing and implementing desktop deployment strategies, such as system imaging and software packaging, to streamline deployments and standardize configurations. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Desktop Engineer II designs and implements desktop security measures to safeguard data and mitigate risks. Additionally, this role monitors and analyzes performance metrics to identify and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and user experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade desktop hardware and computer equipment across multiple locations.

  • Provide second-level technical support, troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues, and escalate problems as needed.

  • Install and upgrade operating systems and resolve network connectivity issues.

  • Serve as the primary contact for client support requests.

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining desktop hardware and software to ensure compatibility, reliability, and performance.

  • Develop and implement desktop deployment strategies, including system imaging and software packaging, to streamline deployments and standardize configurations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement desktop security measures to protect data and mitigate risks.

  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and user experience.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection is required for all remote/hybrid positions. 

  • Must have access to stable Wi-Fi with sufficient bandwidth to support video conferencing, cloud-based tools, and other online work-related activities. 

  • A HIPAA-compliant work environment is required, including a secure workspace free from unauthorized access or interruptions, no use of public Wi-Fi unless connected through a secure company-provided VPN, and compliance with all applicable HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
