At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

Do you thrive at the intersection of design, technology, and storytelling? Are you passionate about leading teams that transform abstract ideas into tangible, interactive experiences? Do you love building an environment where designers and engineers can experiment, fail fast, and discover what truly delights our members? If so, we’d love to talk. The Design Engineering team is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Experience Design Prototyping group.

About the Experience Design Prototyping Team

We accelerate product innovation by combining strong technical execution with deep interaction design expertise. Through high-fidelity, coded prototypes we explore new patterns of interaction, validate ideas through user research, and uncover what truly moves the experience forward. Our work helps teams at Netflix move faster, make smarter decisions, and push the boundaries of how people experience entertainment worldwide.

About The Role

As the manager for Experience Design Prototyping team, you’ll lead a talented group of Design Engineers who use code to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of user experience at Netflix. You’ll define how prototyping contributes to product strategy, driving near-term business impact while creating space for forward-looking experimentation. Partnering with Product Design, Consumer Insights, Engineering, and Data Science, you’ll identify where prototypes can unlock insight, influence direction, and raise the bar for design quality. You’ll mentor and grow a diverse team, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and craftsmanship that shapes how ideas move from concept to reality at Netflix.

About You

You’re a builder of both teams and ideas. You lead with clarity and empathy, creating space for creativity while maintaining high technical and design standards. You’re fluent in both code and design, able to speak the language of engineers and designers alike. You value rapid iteration, informed risk-taking, and learning through making.

You understand that the best innovation happens when people feel trusted, connected, and empowered to act.You thrive on collaboration. You're inclusive, humble, and open to feedback. You prioritize what’s best for the product and the team, not your ego. You’re focused on outcomes, not credit.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and grow the Experience Design Prototyping team; nurturing talent and maintaining a healthy, inclusive, high-performance culture.

  • Define team strategy and priorities in partnership with Design Engineering leadership and cross-functional partners.

  • Contribute to technical direction, mentoring the team on design systems, front-end technologies, and prototyping best practices.

  • Advocate for prototyping as a core part of Netflix’s design and product development process.

  • Partner with senior Product, Design, Research, and Engineering leaders to identify opportunities where prototyping can de-risk ideas, accelerate learning, and improve member experience.

  • Ensure operational excellence through thoughtful planning, communication, and resource management.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience across Design Engineering, front-end development, or creative technology, including at least 3 years leading or managing teams.

  • Deep expertise in prototyping and interaction design using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

  • Experience partnering with Product, Design, Research, and Engineering teams to test and validate early-stage product concepts.

  • A track record of delivering prototypes that influenced strategic decisions or shipped product experiences.

  • Strong leadership in managing distributed or hybrid teams, fostering connection and clarity across time zones.

  • Excellent communication skills; able to convey complex ideas simply, inspire action, and advocate effectively for your team.

  • A love of film, series, games, or interactive storytelling is a plus.

What Sets You Apart

  • You combine creative vision with operational rigor, ensuring your team dreams boldly and executes effectively.

  • You are a model of reliability, transparency, and trust, ensuring partners see your team as a go-to collaborator.

  • You champion thoughtful risk-taking, helping your team learn through experimentation while maintaining accountability to business goals.

  • You bring an ownership mindset, identifying opportunities to improve how Netflix prototypes and learns.

  • You help your team find joy and purpose in the details  because the small moments often make the biggest difference in member experience.
