We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Analyst to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates looking to start a career in credit risk management or technology, with the primary duties of the position revolving around decisioning platform management, with a secondary focus on credit risk analytics. 

What You’ll Do at Avant:

  • Support day-to-day management and maintenance of the decisioning platforms for the loan and credit card products.

  • Assist with building, updating, and testing decision rules, workflows, and data integrations.

  • Conduct routine quality assurance checks to ensure rule accuracy and system logic aligns with credit policies.

  • Troubleshoot platform issues, identify root causes and collaborate cross functionally to resolve any issues.

  • Assist in analyzing credit risk and performance trends for new and existing portfolios of Credit Card and Personal Loan products.

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and credit assessments to measure impact of new rules or policies.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports on credit risk exposure and portfolio performance.

  • Collaborate with senior analysts to develop risk mitigation strategies.

  • Support the development of credit risk models and tools to evaluate effectiveness and accuracy.

Why you’re a fit at Avant:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative or analytical field (e.g. Math, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort working with structured data.

  • Excellent attention to detail, process management, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with SQL and Python.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into logical steps or rule configurations.

  • Strong communications skills, including ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical partners.

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn credit risk concepts and decisioning system architecture.

  • Familiarity with logic-based systems, workflow tools, or decision engines (especially Decisions.com) is a plus.

This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.

Compensation Range:

The base salary range for this job is USD $60,000 - USD $80,000/ Year

Employees new to Avant typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role.
