Database Administrator

A Database Administrator is responsible for managing, organizing, and protecting an organization’s data. They ensure that databases run smoothly, stay secure, and are available when needed by employees and systems.

Key Responsibilities
    •    Install, configure, and maintain database servers and related systems.
    •    Monitor database performance and make adjustments to improve speed and efficiency.
    •    Ensure data security, privacy, and proper access controls.
    •    Create and manage database backups and recovery plans.
    •    Troubleshoot database issues and resolve errors quickly.
    •    Optimize queries and database structures for better performance.
    •    Work with development and IT teams to support applications that use databases.
    •    Ensure databases stay up to date with patches and upgrades.
    •    Document database procedures, structures, and policies.
    •    Assist with data migration and integration projects.

Requirements
    •    Knowledge of SQL and experience with major database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
    •    Understanding of database design, data modeling, and indexing.
    •    Problem-solving and analytical skills.
    •    Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery tools.
    •    Basic understanding of operating systems such as Linux or Windows Server.
    •    Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
    •    Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams.
